Guest guest
Aum Namah Shivaaya! sir, English is a very un-evolved language. ego and identification with the body apart, " androgynous Person " is not the way of describing the concept of Uma Maheshwara. Shiva is the Ultimate Man in the entire Universe. His masculinity lies in the fact that He acknowledges the feminine energy too that resides in Him without feeling threatened by it. even when He gave half of His physical body to His consort, Shakti, He was still a He. but, it wasn't about genders at all. this probably is about Sustenance, Creation and Destruction merging into each other. the more one meditates on the concept, the more beautiful it becomes. i thank you for giving an opportunity to ponder over such a wonderful concept. regards, Sindhu On 01 Apr 2007 19:11:13 -0700, bhatnagar_shailendra <bhatnagar_shailendra wrote: Source www.celextel.org Krishna Yajur-veda - Mahanarayana Upanishad XXIII-1: Supreme Brahman, the Absolute Reality, has become an (ardhanarishwar) androgynous Person in the form of Umamaheshvara, dark blue and reddish brown in hue, absolutely chaste and possessing uncommon eyes. Guest guest
Dear Sri Sindhu, I understand that English is nowhere near Sanskrit and it often misses the real meaning and import of beautiful mantras. I say that without knowledge of Sanskrit but I can appreciate the beauty of Sanskrit words from my knowledge of Hindi. As I said in my first email, this is from celextel.org and I cannot verify the translation. Since this forum is to praise Lord Siva and spread his knowledge, I decided to post the good quotes. Perhaps the Honorable Krishna Yajur-Vedi Pandits on this forum can systematically write a series on how Lord Siva's greatness is described in the Krishna Yajur Veda. Regarding ardhanarishewar, it denotes the union of Siva and Sakti (called Purusha and Prakruti in Bhagavad Gita). Everything movable and immovable is due to union of Siva and Sakti but that is only the perceptible universe. Siva is always sakshi or observer or the pure awareness or pure consciousness. regards, Shailendra
