Om Namah Sivaya

Sruti says " Na Rudro Rudra Marchayete " . Perhaps it

roughly means that none can worship Rudra without

himself becoming Rudra. Can the learned members

kindly explain this in more details ? How is a sadhak

supposed to sanctify himself before worshipping a

Shivalinga ?

with best regards,

Om Namah Sivaya

NamaskaarThere are several things you need to be aware of here, which are in tantric puja there are several modes of purification1) Sthana Shuddhi - Purification of place of worship2) Dravya Shuddhi - Purification of articles of worship3) Bhuta Shuddhi - Purification of elements of ones body4) Deva Shuddhi - Purification of Devi/Devata being worshiped5) Atma Shuddhi - Purification of Soul (encompasses ones mental /astral body)The reason that this is required especially in the puja of Rudra is that the level of power that you become exposed to can kill you ! The karmakandi version of a puja is only a very limited evocation (external) of Rudra's energy, however when an invocation (internal) is properly done, your body temperature can go up to about 115 to 120 Degrees, if you are not properly purified the energy can cause serious (physical and mental ) problems for you. Hence one needs to become Rudra by being

absorbed by Rudra's energy before performing worship as this is the only safe way to ensure that the sadhaka can perform the puja without harm. There are levels of worship as we also havePanchopchara - 5 Upacharas - Daily worship Dasopchara -10 Upacharas - Daily Worship - Personal UpasanaShosdashopchara -16 Upacharas - Special Occasions - It is in this last that an evocation is done, however this is only a limited form of the energy that manifests - when one connects to the energy in a universal senseit is quite another matter. This should only be done under the supervision/assistance of a guru. This form of worship is at first quite terrifying as an experience but as you become accustomed to the energy and you grow in purity ( by virtue of the energy of Rudra ) it becomes quite an exhilarating experience that you look forward to. I hope this

answers/satisfies your questions.Namah SivayaBest Regards Pandit Devindra MaharajShailendra Bhatnagar <bhatnagar_shailendra wrote: Om Namah Sivaya Sruti says "Na Rudro Rudra Marchayete".
