Thank you! I feel the same way! Let Ma put Her lotus feet on my heart, my belly, my back, whereever! Sory if m being ugly but no woman is expected to be a servent..... .its what u think n how u think of it...It does say in our holy scriptures to devote ur life to ur beloved husband, even if u dont love him, or whatsoever it is, do as he pleases and serve him entirely with ur heart and life. But i understand, in some cases these days, it might not be practical... .Some people seem to take advantage of this, but thats not right...if a woman is expected to serve her husband, then in return, he should be as faithful to her... but that doesnt happen in this KAALYUG,,, people say that''Sati ka prabhao is duniya se hat chuka''..... ....but it aint true....I know n m confident that so many cases of women who are iltreated by men, my mother for 1 example...never come up to report or go in to the media, b'coz they r afraid...... ..... This is how the consciences of MATA SATI is still alive today....SO MANY WOMEN IN ALL PARTS N CORNERS OF THE WORLD ARE STILL BURNING EVERY SECOND OF THEIR LIFE TO DEATH....... IN ETERNAL PEACE....... FOR THE LOVE OF THEIR BELOVED..... ...... I'll never understand why humans act the way they (uh..WE) do. The only explanation I can come up with is: it's Kali-yuga; *everything* is screwed-up and only getting WORSE. Humans see things Gods and Goddesses do and they try to imitate! Sati immolating Herself...Shiva drinking poison...Krishna and His loving pastimes with the Gopis....... Humans attempt these things and the results are disastrous!!! I can go on and on ad nauseum about the atrocities done to women by "men" ( and how these same females put up with it), but this is not the place for it. I feel in my heart that the Spiritual World is nothing but Pure Love, Respect, and True Happiness......totally the opposite from this filthy, degraded material world! JAI MA KALI! - - - Faith! In one of the tantric texts (the Nirvana tantra or something like that) it says that the trimurti are as drops of water in the ocean of the great mother Kali and that they are her creations. Therefore why would she be ashamed of stepping on someone she made, she certainly isn't shy about stepping on anyone else (figuratively speaking). Groovy. Having said that if other people want to believe the vedantic/saivite line thats cool, i'm quite sure mother doesn't mind how you have faith (no pun intended) just as long as you do. Cheers and Blessed Be. WOO-HOOO! A pat on the back! Thank you! After being subjected to (physical, emotional, sexual) abuse, discrimination, sexual harrassment, and various other sexist #! & %! I have looked outside the patriarchal scheme of things and discovered the Goddess, Divine Mother.....I am becoming more balanced. I don't want to swing the pendulum to the other side and become matriarchal; female sexist pigs...uh...sows... A good balance. Yin and Yang. So, my heart felt this is *a* reason why Ma is sticking Her tongue out. JAI MA KALI! - - - Faith P.S. keep the faith. Shape in your own image. Join our Network Research Panel today! Greetings and peace KaliMa list. Don't mean to sound like a know it all. I am certainly not an expert on Hindi scripture or symbolism. I think of the protruding tongue as a gesture of supplication. Not supplication of women to man or wife to husband or even Kali to Shiva but of love to death. I get that impart from from the tradition of people bowing before the Dali Lama sticking their tongues out in supplication for the scarf ceremony there, which is what I remember reading anyway. That is most interesting! Why doesn't someone (me? you? anyone else?) do some further research on the symbolism of sticking out the tongue? My heart tells me these pictures of Kali are not *really* what She looks like; it's all SYMBOLISM. "A picture is worth a thousand words", they say. And symbols can ofttimes say much more than mere words, eh? JAI MA KALI! - - - Faith Shape in your own image. Join our Network Research Panel today! They don't even like having one's feet pointing at someone, and certainly not at a murti(divine image or idol). They have a thing about feet. Ah, yes! How could I have forgotten!? I have frequently visited the ISKCON Temple here in Chicago over the past 18 years, I just automatically watch where I put my feet so as to not point them at any of the Dieties! I have recently seen in a commercial an Indian man greeting his father by touching his feet, then when leaving, touched his father's feet again. Being American-born, I don't understand so much of the cultural stuff. Don't point your feet at me! Let us offer our obeisances unto Ma's lotus feet. FEET. Fingers are small, too, but point that *middle* finger at someone and hell could break loose! (Oh! From Krishna Culture E-store, I bought a silver pendant: two feet with Radharani's markings on them. Nice.) JAI MA KALI! - - - Faith P.S. Just for the sake on inforamtion... I like to respond as quickly as possible to messages posted, but I don't own a computer.
