No one should ever stop worship for any reason. But worship can be done 'mentally', as " manasa-sheva " , if the body is unclean or indisposed. And worship of 'Chitra-vigraha' is always fine too. The rule is NOT about visiting a temple. It pertains to ARCHAN (puja) of " Arca-vigraha " like Shalagram, there are RULES, which NEED to be respected. But, there is never any rule against worship by anyone. And in worship (spiritual life) the body, clean or dirty, is a hindrance at best. What you CAN take with you after death, please employ THAT in your puja - then you transcend all rules.
