It is a succinct definition of Sahajiya,or as you insist, Prakrita Sahajiya. Lord Chaitanya and His followers like Prabhupapda are aprakrita sahajiyas. They follow the flow of transcendental energy whereas the prakrita sahajiyas mistake the mundane or prakata or prakrita for the transcendental (divya sakti). There is no end of tension between aprakrita and prakrita sahajism. NB It is not just slackers in the West who are slightly loose with the tern "Sahajiya." It is also quite badly abused in Hindi and Bengali as well. Best! Robb Get your new Email address! Grab the Email name you've always wanted before someone else does! Guest guest
Dandavat, Robb!!!Now that the subject of Sahajiya has been broached, I bet there are many members who may not know about it. It would be good teaching if you could expound, with examples, on the difference between Prakrita-sahajiya and Aprakrita. Many people will appreciate, and some will disagree altogether, depending if they are dvaitavadin or advaitavadin at heart, as is the case among Hindus.Bhakti or Dvaitavad is more attractive (and thus easier) than Shunyavad or Brahmavad - which essentially are suggesting "spiritual suicide" - which is, basically, impossible because the atma is sat-chit-ananda in essence. It's good to discuss this here. Please carry on... Guest guest
Dear Shyamasundarji, Namaste!!! Sorry but you misunderstood this post by my godbrother. It is not about Sahajiya (which mostly refers to Materialistic " Prakrita " Sahajiya perversion, viz., Aouls, Bauls, Ratikeli, and Sakhiveshi). What the writer was referring to was just a play on words: " Sahaj " simply means " easy " , and compared to dry Brahma-jnana or Shunyavad, Lord Chaintanya's bhakti method is easy, because of attraction of Krishna. So he was saying that Prabhupada was a Spiritualist (Aprakrita), taking the easy spiritual path (Aprakrita-Sahajiya) of Bhakti. It's just a play on the word " easy " between my godbrother and I. But we all agree with you that Sahajiya (which usually means prakrita-sahajiya) is bogus and mundane. But please understand, it is correct to say what he said, which means = Transcendental Bhakti is " most easy " form of Sadhana in Sanatan Dharma. So you are correct, but not in this case... BTW: Don't forget that I am a direct personal associate of Srila Prabhupada - who spoke with him loads in Bengali, did a book translation with him, and spent intimate time as his assistant - as a specially Gaudiya Math trained-up disciple, who Prabhupada initiated in 1967. And my godbrother who sent the post is also Prabhupada's direct personal associate. I'm not sure if you ever met Prabhupada. Not everyone was so fortunate.
