Respected Sir,Really Hinduism is very funny. Among Vaishnavas also difference on the birth day of Krishna?we dont know, where Hinduism will lead us,due to all acharyas/Upadhyas/Swamijees/Bhagavans.I think it is better to be either to become a non believer or Christian or Muslims.Dr. Rajeev Agnihotri--- On Fri, 7/8/09, 108 SRIMAD BHAKTI VEDENTA SYAMASUNDARA SARASWATI DASA <syamasundara100008 wrote:108 SRIMAD BHAKTI VEDENTA SYAMASUNDARA SARASWATI DASA <syamasundara100008Re: Shri Krishna Janmasthami datessacred-objects Date: Friday, 7 August, 2009, 12:25 AM

Hare Krishna

Among the various Vaishnava sampradyas, Shri Krishna Janmasthami is celebrated on different days. This year the Gaudiya ISKCON Math celebrates on 14th August. A friend of mine who is in the Shri (Ramanuja) Sampradaya told me that Shri Vaishnavas celebrate on the 12th September, when I asked why he said this is according to Avani month and Rohini star. Can someone explain this difference of dates?

Thanks,

Ys, Ole

Dear Sriman,First, about Janmastami date, here is info from Srimad Bhagavat of Krishna's birth. SB 10.3.1-5: Thereafter, at the auspicious time for the appearance of the Lord, the entire universe was surcharged with all the qualities of goodness, beauty and peace. The constellation Rohini appeared, as did stars like Asvini;. The sun, the moon and the other stars and planets were very peaceful. We also know it was astami of dark Moon at 12 midnight, well over 5,000 years ago. So do you think there might be some disagreement about the exact day each year?Actually I think the Hindus are united under the Shastras, The Gita. There will be different interpretations given, just as with every other religion, including Sikhs and Muslims. There is never just one interpretation of any religion. But Hindu's are proud. Although whole huge India was only conquered by British and Muslims because of disunity of Hindus, now India is ONE and I

think Hindus are NOW more united than ever (perhaps).Best wishes,Richardsacred-objects, rajeev Rajeev <airavat15@. ..> wrote:>> Dear Sir,> > This is not the answear.> > Let us acknowledge the fact that "Hindus are not united".> > They dont respect each other, each wants to prove his own point.> > However, the funny thing is that they cannot made a unique religion, nor they cannot escape from the the loops of Hinduism.> > I dont think, they can be united in future.> > The condition os Sri Sri Ravisankar befor Dr, Zakir naik is the recent example.> > Any way thank you for your diplomatic reply, and spinning of stories, instead of

Hi Ole,

For me is doesn't matter. I just follow the Gaudiya system, because every day is

Janmastami for me as I do the same puja every day. The only difference is I use

panca-amrita to bath the Shalagram and then Ganga Jala on Janmastami. Otherwise

same puja every day for He Who is Aja (never born).

FYI: Krishna Janmashtami is observed on the eighth day, Ashtami tithi, of the

dark half or Krishna Paksha of the month of Bhaadra in the Hindu calendar, when

the Rohini Nakshatra is ascendant. That is in one hour from now for me.

A tithi is a lunar day, or the time it takes for the longitudinal angle between

the moon and the sun to increase by 12°. Tithis begin at varying times of day

and vary in duration from approximately 19 to approximately 26 hours.

Nakshatra: 'star', from naksha, 'approach', and tra, 'guard') or lunar mansion

is one of the 27 divisions of the sky, identified by the prominent star(s) in

them, used in Jyotisha.

Jai Sri Krishna!!!

Y/s,

Richard
