Don't feel bad. Iskcon is to Hinduism as Jains or Sikhs are to Hinduism, only a

million times more closed minded. They will not even allow the sadhu godbrothers

of Srila Prabhupada or their disciples (in same sampradaya and parampara) to

enter any Iskcon temple, what to speak of give Hari Katha or read their books.

It is hopeless because in Iskcon, Krishna is just an excuse to worship

Prabhupada. And if Prabhupada was driving the wrong way against a one-way

street, then that would become the right way. He is right even when he is wrong.

This has resulted in a number of philosophical deviations from the Gaudiya

Sampradaya. For example, it is voted into philosophical FACT that Iskcon

believes the Jivatma originally fell from the position of Mukta down into the

material samsara (Christian-born original sin complex!?). Also, they think that

following Krishna around the cosmos while he performs His " Bauma " lila in

different material universes is liberation, when, in fact, the goal is to leave

the material existence and go to " Nitya-lila " in Vaikuntha (Golok).

 

From where no one falls (except Jaya amd Vijaya which was to serve Narayana as

his enemies for three births, so that is not representative of " origin of the

jivatma " .) And MANY other gross deviations too many to list.

 

Now I am a disciple of Srila Prabhupada, initiated with Hari Nam in 1967 so he

is my Hari Nam Guru. But I'm also Diksha disciple of late Swami Bon Maharaj (a

bal brahmachari and Sannyasi since age 24 until his death in Vrajadham at 81)

who is Prabhupada senior Godbrother, and lived with him almost 7 years in Vraja.

 

Plus I'm a Shiksha disciple of Hanuman Prasad Potter and his wonderful Gita

Press. The first time I read the Gita was 1966 the small Gita Press. And Srimad

Bhagavatam by Gita Press is amazing, specially in that it has no personal

agenda. Srila Prabhupada's Bhagavatam is incomplete, and the translations and

purports are full of personal agenda towards Iskcon: " Krishna says, 'surrender

unto ME' - He is really says, " Join Iskcon. " But the Gita Press version is pure

and free from any slant.

 

I cannot sing the praises of Gita Press enough to do justice. Gita Press, NOT

ISKCON, have distributed MORE books than Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) by a

long-shot. And with no personal motive to be " empire builders " .

 

To this day I read Gita Press Bhagavatam in two vols, and then Prabhupada's

incomplete Bhagavatam. And again Gita Press version, and alternate. There is a

huge difference. And I prefer the Gita Press version to any other version.

 

Now I don't blame Srila Prabhupada, because I have a special relationship with

him. We spoke in Bengali and did a book, Sri Upadeshamrita, together. So I know

his heart personally, without Iskcon interpretation.
