NAVRATRAS

Navratras or time of Durgadevi, nine devis / mahkali, mahahalaksmi, mahasarasawati come four times in a year in hindu months (shukla paksha of Magha, Chaitra, Asadh, Ashwini.) But in Kaliyuga the present yuga only one / two “Chaitra†and generally “Ashwin†months are observed as navratras. As the fasts are though and cannot be done by all. Beware, Fasts in such a way that body is not harmed by fasting.

 

Devi durga is worshipped in these months in different forms for nine days from (pratipada to navami shukla paksh.

 

 

Durga saptasati is read in navaratras. “Gita press†has a very good form of “Durga saptashadiâ€.

 

 

Fasts are generally kept for nine days in different potencies (without water, with water, with water, milk, fruits, food with one time food at night). Fruits are taken by some in morning. This is a period of climatic changes which makes body prone to infections and diseases. Fasting prevents that by generating energy that kills germs and give tapas shakti. Fast generally now are observed on “pratipada†and “ashtami†as people cannot endure long fasts. depending on capacity of body one should do fasts otherwise body may get harmed.

 

“Durga saptasati†is read in navaratras. Gita press has a very good form of durga saptashadi. With full vidhi. Navarna mantra japa is done for paap nasha, desires, or devis happiness if it is niskama.

 

Paap mochan, shaap mochan mantras, Kavach, argala, keelak, saptsati path, siddhakunjika and at last shamaprathana is done. is done in every day of navratra.

 

Dana (charity) is done. It is said that if charity (inpurest form, giving seedha or grains to pandit with dakshina). It is said that charity done in this period brings in multiples of lakhs or millions.

 

Strictly no non-veg is consumed in these days , liquior, and onions, garlic, carrots are not taken during this period. Devotee abstains from telling lies, sex, liquor also. Devotee sleeps on floor, doesnt shave for nine days. keeps kalash on pratipada to navami. Devotee should not talk much, do back-biting, say lies , watch read bad literature in these days, if possible “ Devibhagvatam†purana is read in these days.

 

Kanyas ( Hindu kanyas) (2 to 10 years of girls are worshipped with charan-ashishek, tika and then they are fed as they are know as “Kanjaks†with puri, chana, halawa, at last cloth (RED colour) & dakshina is given. And if the person has any kamana or desire he asks from kanyas after giving them kanjak. Kanjakas are fed daily or on ninth or last day.

 

On 10th day visarjan of pooja samagri used is done.

 

So observe navratras and do fasting atleast on 1st and eigth day and get shakti, paap nasha, progress, material and money forx months even, for lifes afterwards.
