Guest guest
Here is excerpt from Wikipedia: Advaita is not about any worship of any kind of deity, not even a singular all powerful supreme being/Ishwara/God. It is about realising the self i.e. Atman as the Brahman itself which is apparently manifested eternally and simultaneously into animate or inanimate. This realization is limited and/or inhibited by lack of knowledge and discrimination i.e. Jnana and this verily is the foundation of non-duality (Advaita). Brahman is described as neti neti (na iti na iti - not this, not this or not so, not so) in the Upanishads. Guest guest
Dear Anne, It's true. Back in 1992 - 1993 late Pope John Paul paid a rare visit to Sri Lanka, which is primarily Buddhist (as is Thailand), and discussed his view to the media that the GOAL or Buddhism or to attain and enter Nirvana (the void), where there is no concept of anything or personal reality. Just empty VOID). Thus he pointed out that in the void (as in Advaita Hinduism) there is no intelligence or God, the Supreme Person. And a GOD-less state is by definition nastick or atheist. This created an uproar all over the Buddhist world, who did not like being called atheist (even though they are). According to the Pope " nirvan " or Sayuja Mukti of Advaita are both, in fact, Godless philosophy or atheism, and, if possible, would be spiritual suicide. Just see " atheism " in the dictonary, and tell me where is God? ---Y/s, Richard sacred-objects , anne thakur <annethakur wrote: > > An interesting query it begs then what is god and who is the pope > and what can really be understood in any erudite investigation into any enlightened cannon of any revelatory ambiguous or non ambiguous teaching without having direct experience > soooooooooooooooooo > for the sake of simplicity > QUERY > How many Popes does it take to turn on the LIGHT? > > and will the Void turn IT off?????????? > moreover Coke shoul d open centers for humanity to access the VOid > > MOKsha >
