Guest guest
My Friend It reminds me of a story of Shri Swami Vivekananda, once he visited a king in India and the king proudly said to him that he don’t believe in Idol worship to this Swamiji Vivekananda smiled at him. After few hours at King’s palace Swamiji Vivekananda noticed a big picture of a old man hanging from the wall, to this Swamiji asked the King to spit on this picture. King replied that this is my father’s picture how can I spit on it. To this Swamiji smilled back and asked the King that you don’t believe in Idol worship then why do you believe in this picture. It is also a type of Idol of your father. The moral of the story is “BELIEVE or FAITH in GOD”. There are many ways to reach to the LOARD by any religion as religion is the path toward the god. If you take out I or me from any thing and try to look at everyone you will find god in everyone and nothing else. So irrespective of which ever form of god you worship or religion do you follow if you don’t do it from your hart you will end up loosing the essence of what any religious scripture is trying to teach. Sikhism? Judaism? Christianity? GUESS AGAIN....... Yeah, Hinduism - once again the holy Vedas speak:"They are enveloped in darkness, in other words, are steeped in ignorance and sunk in the greatest depths of misery who worship the uncreated, eternal prakrti -- the material cause of the world -- in place of the All-pervading God, BUT THOSE WHO WORSHIP VISIBLE THINGS BORN OF THE PRAKRTI, such as the earth, trees, bodies (human and the like) in place of God are enveloped in still greater darkness, in other words, they are extremely foolish, fall into an awful hell of pain and sorrow, and suffer terribly for a long time." -- Yajur Veda 40:9.This is merely further confirmed in yet another verse:"The Formless Supreme Spirit that pervades the universe can have NO MATERIAL REPRESENTATION, LIKENESS OR IMAGE." -- Yajur Veda 32:3.According to Hinduism's sacred & eternal Vedas, idolators (i.e. "but those who worship visible things born of the prakrti") are condemned as perhaps the most wicked entities in Hinduism. "No material representation" , i.e. no idols for Hindus lest they rot in "hell"!!Source: Hinduism Unveiled: Forbidden Verses in Hindu Scriptures.--- On Sat, 9/20/08, P. Guest guest
There is a amazing story on the same lines in the "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda, Shree Yogananda dose not bow to a shiva linga near a temple while he was going to meet a spiritually awakened yogi, he thinks that external worship is not necessary if one does sincerely prays to god within, when Shri Yogananda meets the Yogi finally, he gets a big lecture from the Yogi (who sees everything through yogic eye) about respecting the divine from outside first before respecting from within, We gets our beliefs(form or no form or different forms) from our past karma, whichever it is we have to follow with conviction, love and sincerity, as Selvaratnam ji pointed out when we look at a picture or idol (physically of in our mind canvas) we connect to a particular deity or energy, this connection will lead us to God. Om Namah Shivaya, Divakar. --- On Mon, 9/22/08, Rahul Sharma <toneyrahulsharma wrote: Rahul Sharma <toneyrahulsharmaRe: Idol worshipping!! , sacred-objects Date: Monday, September 22, 2008, 6:35 AM My Friend It reminds me of a story of Shri Swami Vivekananda, once he visited a king in India and the king proudly said to him that he don’t believe in Idol worship to this Swamiji Vivekananda smiled at him.
