Guest guest
Dear Shri. Nandanacarya, Mexican Valampuri means commonly sold Whelk shells of the species Busycon contrarium. This shell is commonly available in Florida sea and near Gulf of Mexico. Cost of whelk is on length basis. Three inches whelk costs not more than Rs. 300/- to maximum Rs. 400/- in the Indian market. Cost of 6 to 7 inches whelk shell is in the range of Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 1500/- maximum in the Indian market. Whelk is also a sinistral shell however is not a true Valampuri. True Valampuri is 'Sinistral' variety of the Indian Sacred Conch species Turbinella pyrum.
