Guest guest
Respected Shri. Richard ji, Thank you very much for your mail. It is sometimes a tough job to judge Valmapuri by its picture. The present specimen of Valampuri appears to be a real on the following characters. Shape and finish of the Valampuri is normal. Small elevations are seen in the apical region of conch (near sutures or whrols of conch) is a normal character. Posterior region or tail region of the shell shows presence of fine striations adjoing to the siphonal canal. Presence of such fine striations is one of the genuine character of many shells. If shell is polished sometimes you do not see any such natural striations. Umbilicus is a small opening in the tail region near the siphonal canal. In the present specimen, though umbilicus is present, it is towards the anterior end. Position of the umbilicus in the present specimen is slightly away from its natural position. Ofcourse, abnormal characters are seen many times in shells. Flaws in the picture are as under. The shell is not properly photographed. Three plaits or three vertical ridges in the cavity are not seen in the picture. It is necessary to change the shell position to show these plaits. Conch outerlip or margin is also not properly photographed. The Valampuri appers to be a normal or genuine. Thanking you and with best wishes, Chandrashekhar PhadkeRichard Shaw Brown <rsbj66 wrote: Richard Shaw Brown <rsbj66 Real Valampuri? - for sale"Planetary Group Group" <planetary-gemology >, "Sacred Group Group" <sacred-objects >Thursday, 10 July, 2008, 2:09 PM Dear Chandrashekar,What do you think of this...?
