Guest guest
I am giving my frank opinion about the shell. Shell outer lip may be transluscent or opaque. Large no of shell species show transluscent outer lip. The suture line of the shell shown in the picture is not continuous. In fact, in many cases it is very difficult to remove periostrachum from the suture lines. Few of the traders try to remove it forcibly with hard pointed material and damage the natural beauty of the shell. In case of three plaits or vertical ridges in the conch cavity, I am of the opinion that it is not properly photographed. If you see the picture carefully, you can see the third ridge. I have seen similar type of genuine Valampuries. I personally taken X-rays of similar types. I am of the opinion that the Valampuri shown on 'tradesholding' is a genuine one.
