Guest guest
Dear friends, I have written earlier regarding 'Cashew Nut shaped Ek Mukhi Rudraksha' on this forum. It is a fruit produced on the species Elaeocarpus tuberculatus. This species produces flat two mukhi beads as a rule. These two mukhi beads are flat and kite shaped. This species is from the south India and Sri Lanka. Flat two mukhi rudraksha are wrongly mentioned everywhere as 'Bhadraksha' since beads are not round in shape. Elaeocarpus tuberculatus also produces three mukhi, four mukhi, Gauri Shankar, Ganesh beads which are all flat in shape. This species also produces cashewnut shaped one mukhi and cashewnut shaped two mukhi beads. There is one more one mukhi type is produced by this species which is exactly similar to the flat two mukhi beads, however, shows presence of only one cleft. I have all these morphological variations in my personal collection. It is interesting to note that the normal beads of this species are wrongly mentioned as Bhadraksha. However, abnormal Cashew Nut shaped beads produced on the same species are praised as One Mukhi or King of Rudraksha. I got identified this species from the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew, Surrey, England in 2004. I have deposited fruits of this species at Kew Garden herbarium in 2004. Thanking you and with best wishes, Chandrashekhar Phadke Forgot the famous last words? Access your message archive online.
