The number of verses in the Puranas

SB 12.13.4-9:

 

Brahma Purana consists of ten thousand verses,

Padma Purana of fifty-five thousand,

Sri Vishnu Purana of twenty-three thousand,

Siva Purana of twenty-four thousand,

Srimad-Bhagavatam of eighteen thousand,

Narada Purana has twenty-five thousand verses,

Markandeya Purana nine thousand,

Agni Purana fifteen thousand four hundred.

Bhavishya Purana fourteen thousand five hundred,

Brahma-vaivarta Purana eighteen thousand,

Linga Purana eleven thousand,

Varaha Purana contains twenty-four thousand verses,

Skanda Purana eighty-one thousand one hundred,

Vamana Purana ten thousand,

Kurma Purana seventeen thousand,

Matsya Purana fourteen thousand,

Garuda Purana nineteen thousand,

Brahmanda Purana twelve thousand.

 

Thus the total number of verses in all the 18 Puranas is four hundred thousand.
