Guest guest
dear friends many people wonder as to why king rama suffered various hardships like fourteen years of secluded life in jungles (equivalent to life imprisonment under present Indian law) and separation from wife and children etc. several astrologers tried to cast king rama's chart based on the descriptions given in valmiki Ramayana and find out astrological reasons for his troubles but astrologically his chart is the best one could imagine. the only reason for the sufferings of king rama or lord rama in human form (a reincarnation of lord vishnu) is due to the curse received by lord Vishnu from pativratas (chaste women) for outraging their modesties by deceit. once upon a time brihaspati (jupiter) and indra (king of devatas) visited kailasha to meet lord shiva and to test them, shiva appeared in the form of a digambara and not realizing it, indra tries to kill him with his thunderbolt due to which lord shiva gets furiated and releases fire from his third eye. realizing the anger of lord shiva, jupiter makes indra fall at the feet of shiva and prays to lord shiva to shower mercy and spare indra after which lord shiva lets the fire released from his third eye thrown into the salt ocean (lavanambodhi) and this fire that has fallen into this ocean takes the form of a boy called jalandhara. since jupiter helped indra get his life back, lord shiva grants the name of jeeva (enlivener) to jupiter. later realizing the strength of jalandhara, brahma blesses him to become the emperor of asuras and asks sukra (venus) to coronate and later performs jalandhara's marriage with vrinda, the daughter of kalanemi. seeing the headless rahu, jalandhara finds out the reason for rahu's headlessness and decides to fight with vishnu. in the battle, sukra used to bring back the dead asuras to life with his mritasanjivini vidya and jupiter used to bring back the dead devatas to life with rarest herbs found only in drona mountain. knowing this, jalandhara uproots the drona mountain and throws into the ocean. (drona mountain is now in the almora district of kumaon). jalandhara fights battle with vishnu and make vishnu and his family live in jalandhara's house and conquers all the three worlds. vishnu could not win the battle since jalandhara is born out of lord shiva. then sage narada hatches a plot and tells jalandhara to go and get parvati who is the most beautiful woman in the world. narada also tells that once even brahma fell to the beauty of parvati but was cursed by siva which was a different story. then jalandhara goes to manasasarovar and find parvati who gets vanished after spotted by jalandhara and asks vishnu to outrage the modesty of jalandhara's wife saying that as long as his wife is chaste, due to her power, jalandha cannot be killed even by shiva. jalandhara becomes busy in kailasa to get paravati and fight lord shiva. vishnu cast (maya) a bad dream for vrinda, the wife of jalandhara after which vrinda goes into the forest and find two monsters fleeing from which she approaches a brahmin who kills these monsters with a mere sound. then vrinda asks this brahmin to let her know the status of jalandhara who had gone to fight shiva and this brahmin lets two monkeys bring the deadbody of jalandhar in front. vrinda falls at the feet of this brahmin and prays to him to bring back jalandhara to life and lo, jalandhara (vishnu in disguise) wakes up and embraces vrinda and have sex only after which she realizes that it was vishnu and not jalandhara and curses vishnu to take a human shape and then his wife would be distracted by two rakshasas, the same two monsters who made vrinda to approach this deceitful brahmin. like this brahmin, a demon in disguise as a brahmin approaches your wife and abducts her. like me, you would also search for your wife in jungles. since you used monkeys to bring a false deadbody of my husband, you would not find your wife without taking the help of real monkeys. after giving these curses, the chaste vrinda enters into a fire and attains salvation. from the above, it is clear that vishnu took a human shape only due to the curse of vrinda and his search in jungles, deceit by the rakshasas, his wife taken away by another person, taking the help of monkeys is all due to the curse of vrinda, a pativrata. these stories also highlight the power of a chaste woman by signifying that even if the husband of a chaste woman is bad, he would become invincible due to the power of his wife. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com
Guest guest
Hare Krishna Members, Mr. Arjun has mixed 2 or 3 three stories and made one story which is no where mentioned in the texts as what he has produced it below. Yes few parts are similar. I want to correct him as follows: On knowing that her chastity has been ruined by Lord Vishnu, Vrinda cursed Lord Vishnu to become stone and immediately Lord Vishnu turn down to become a stone. Remember devotees, Vrinda was a an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu which actually Jalandhara never liked. On hearing that Jalandhara is going to make Parvati as his 'Patrani', Vrinda tries to make her husband understand that Parvati is actually 'Shakti', so she is actually your mother and she can never become your wife, Jalandhara tells her that she is jealous of her beauty and cannot tolerate Her beauty and also can never accept Parvati as 'Patrani' of Janlandhara. On hearing this Vrinda takes a knife and take out her both eyes and becomes blind. Later when Jalandhara attempts to kill her at several occasions, Lord Vishnu only helped her( Vrinda), and by Vishnu's boon only Vrinda gets her eyes again back. (This I want to tell to explain that Vrinda was a very big devotee of Lord Vishnu). Now once Lord Vishnu turns to be stone by the curse of Vrinda, all Devtas and demi gods explains Vrinda to take her curse back because Lord Vishnu is instrumental in making the life run ( preservator) and if He is not there than the life would come to an end. She understands that and take her curse back. Now as soon as the curse is taken out, Lord Vishnu Himself tells that to keep the word of Vrinda He will convert Himself to millions of stones which will have discuss marks on them cut by 'Vajra Keetas', which are now called as Shaligrams, they will shapes and markings of all my inacarnations. Shaligrams are the direct manifestation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu also understands that since the chastity was destroyed of Vrinda ( but this was the only way Jalandhara would have been killed), but at the same time she was the one who suffered most and therefore He told that in the next birth, Vrinda will become Tulasi and She will get married to Shaligram. It is for this reason Shaligram Shilas are also decorated by Tulasi leafs. So in this way Vrinda became wife of Lord Vishnu in the form of Shaligrams and the "Bhramand " was given the lesson that Ladies are Devis and they will respected at each and every cost. Since Shaligrams are direct manifestations of Lord Vishnu they are considered as the most powerful in acheiving Salvation and Moksha. In Skanda puran Lord Shiva has Himself mentioned followong thing for Shaligram Shilas. PUJITO’HAM NA TAIR MARTYAIR NAMITO’HAM NA TAIR NARAHNAKRTAM MARTYA LOKE YAIH SALAGRAM SILARCANAM (HARI BHAKTI VILASA 5/396 From SKANDA PURANA)(Lord Shiva speaks to his son, Skanda) in this mortal world, if anyone does not worship Shalagram Shila, I do not not at all accept any of their worship and obeisances. I would like to know , Mr. Arjun has read which text in which Vrinda is telling Vishnu to suffer for 14 years in jungle. I would be really very grateful for this. Guest guest
dear friends the entire story which i wrote is purely based on what is written in the shivapuran, four volumes published by motilalbanarsidas and also the sanskrit version published by chaukhamba. members may check the same from the rudrasamhita, fifth chapter. the 14 years suffering was my own observation of the suffering of rama in the first paragraph and this does not find mention in the story part. hope mr. dasa mixed my own narration in the first paragraph and the story in the subsequent paragraphs. the story part in my mail starts with " once upon a time... and after the story ended, i wrote my own narration by saying " from the above... and members may kindly note that whatever is written in this story part is hundred percent scripturally corroborated from shivapuran and can give sanskrit verse numbers as well as english page numbers if one wish to check and refer on their own. in fact there is another chapter in the shivapurana where tulasi, the wife of sankhachooda is also outraged by vishnu whereafter she curses him to become a rock and then lord shiva grants the boon of tulasi becoming the gandaki river and how the rock of vishnu become various shalagramas. this is a completely different story and is not under the vrinda curse. members may kindly go through the shivpurana which is my source and then comment against me. since skandapurana story is not my source i cannot comment on it and if it has any difference with the story that i took from shivapurana, it is for the members to check both and draw their own inferences. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com sacred-objects , Shaligram Shala <shaligram8 wrote: > > Hare Krishna Members, > Mr. Arjun has mixed 2 or 3 three stories and made one story which is no where mentioned in the texts as what he has produced it below. Guest guest
Hare Krishna, Ok, now since you (Mr Arjun) say that " 14 years suffereing of Rama is your own observation" I am OK with this. But with your story any body would be misguided because very discreetly you had written that about Ram's sufferings. You should have in the bracket written very clearly after that line that "its your observation and not mentioned in any Text".
