Dear Sriman Menon,

It was about 4 inches - about 50 grams. Still had the skin but looked genuine.

If you are interested let me know and I'll give your email to the seller. At

@9,000 is not too much, but still it is pretty high cost. Rs 3000-6000 is about

right per gram. But no price is actually too expensive for a real Valampuri from

Indian Ocean. They are priceless.

Best wishes,

Richard

Lakshmi

Shank owners have the real thing.BTW: I recently heard of a small genuine fine

Respected Shri. Richard ji, Valampuri Shankh is no doubt a priceless item. Valampuries having weight less than 100 gms. are very rare. I was told by the fisherman that for the conservation of the species, small sized Valampuries are generally not collected. Recently, I have displayed a beautiful Valampuri weighing 270 gms. for Rs. 3500/- per gram. The Valampuri is 15.3 cms. in length and 8 cms. in bredth. Details of the Valampuri can be seen at www.valampuri-shankh.com Thanking you and with personal regards, Chandrashekhar PhadkeRichard Shaw-Brown <rsbj66 wrote: Dear Sriman Menon,It was about 4 inches - about 50 grams.
