Guest guest
" SWAMIYE SARANAM AYYAPPA " I visited this month to SABARIMALA and also got a good DARSHAM OF AYYAPPA. As all SWAMIS know, that cleanliness will keep you very close to GOD.Regret to see that SWAMIS from Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh are not bothered to keep temple premises, holy river PUMPA and all the way to SABARIMALA to keep clean. Anyone can see and will accept that empty plastic water bottles, waste plastic covers, papers, and balance food items etc. lying all the way to the temple. If some one really want to get the blessing of SRI AYYAPPA, the he should realise that the forest surrounding the temple is his POONGAVANAM and it is YOUR duty to preserve it clean. I earnestly request to all devotees of SWAMI AYYAPPA to keep this point in mind and please be assure to convey this message to all the other members with you as well as those who are preparing to go to SABARIMALA. Guest guest
Dear Mr.Vijay I was also in Sabarimala on 5th afternoon to 6th morning; got very good dharshan(s). Last year (Jan 2008) I went to sabarimala after 'Makara Jothi' (viewed Jothi from 'Karimalai Irakkam'); Had nice Dharshan of Our Ayyappan. But all the Sabarimalai is full of dirt; black sticky wastes deposited, of about 11/2" to 3" all over paths and steps of accommodation rooms, mountains of plastic & other wastes, etc.... total area looked so bad; that time above the temple lot of water scarcity too. In 'Peryayaanaivattam' all along the path lot of food wasted ~ there was un-required qty of annadhanams by many groups. So we went again in September monthly puja, to see and have a total clean & divine dharshanam..... At that time after a full rainy season, total area looked so nice & great. Mr.Vijay in your mail I felt sorry to read the lines [ “Regret to see that SWAMIS from Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh are not bothered to keep temple premises†]. Swami I am also a long time visitor of our Swami Ayyappan and also regularly noticing the changes in the crowd pattern, changing environs, etc.... Beedies ... I have seen many devotees from Kerala smoking it, even while going up itself and also for the past few years I have seen increasing crowd from Kerala, with the attitude the temple belongs to their area for ex: - getting special attention from the Police Swamis - very indiscriminating - this year our group Swami was sitting in the 'ney abishekam line' from 8 PM and there was around 30 ~ 50 Swamis in-front of them; But in between 1 AM ~ 2 AM a full mob of 80 ~ 100 just gone inside, but sorry to tell this - most of them from Kerala and police not even showed an angered face towards them ~ Is it a discipline? - If you see 9 out of 10 Swamis with clean shaved face (it shows they had 1 day / 3 day viradham) or Swamis wearing slippers or Swamis having their irumudis in white cloth so lethargically just above their head or shoulders, without having any additional cloth below, etc... they will be from Kerala - Normally all 'ghee' from coconut will be given for abishekam directly; now many are practicing just putting all 'ghee' in the vessels kept by the temple and returning after purchasing an 'abisheka ghee' from the counter; this is not the custom taught by our Guru swami’s. (I agree this will reduce over-night staying crowd.) But this new system is mostly followed by the new gen Swamis from Kerala. - ........ Please Mr.Vijay on seeing this also all other swamis will catch this ' degradation of long followed viradham / customs'. I also personally feel great to see increasing crowd to our Ayyappan Temple; that too many Charming young kids / children, mostly from Kerala. I feel great every time to see the better sanitation facilities (hope many old swamis will not forgot about floating wastes in nineties at holy Pamba river), better crowd management, better paths, etc... This time I was much elated to see no VIP / Side route, No pulling of devotees on Holy steps, No spl entries / dharshan arranged thro Melshanthi or Thanthri groups (They are allowed to do only their duties / rites and in temple close times, taking rest; which in-turn keep them fresh..... before that I used to see them as 'full time money collecting machines'),.... many good things are regularly happening in our Sabarimala. Mr.Vijay I am not for any views to separate us as state wise; We all in one single platform - Devotees of Our Ayyappan. So My Humble Request to all devotees is - don't differentiate between us; B'cos 'this is the only temple not differentiating devotees based on their religion, caste, their financial powers, etc...' - Keep the temple premises, Sabarimala, Path, Holy Pamba, Route to Pampa, etc., as Clean; Pls .... - Please ensure better sanitation practice; In our Viradham we are taking bath 2 times, to keep our body as clean.... If we are not keeping our Environ as clean... what is the use of keeping our self as clean and having pure sandal over us??? - We are taking viradham for a mandalam and patiently waiting ... then why you are running & pushing near the premises; Please show maximum patience - Other than talking about our Swami Ayyappan and Chanting his Saranams, please avoid un-necessary talks in your total yathra; our Ayyappan is not a god who is just sitting inside temple room..... he will be anywhere ... he will be with any good Ayyappan This place is full of many seniors, Guru Swamis, who know many things...... But After viewing Mr.Vijay's letter I shared my feelings..... Pls Don't mistake me if any thing in my mail is against your views... Guest guest
Dear Vijay Nair Swamy, Lets not talk about Tamilnadu,Karnataka or Andhra...lets talk about "human attitude". The swamy who does mess up at Lord Ayyapan Pongavanam indeed have no responsibility nor love toward Lord Ayyapan especially those who smoke at sabari. One of our swamy leg was cut by broken florences light@ tube light. Any logic mind swamy can say this incident can be avoided. It does not matter from where you are, it matter what kind of attitude you have in you.For the swamy who does not bother even a bit of the environment of Pongavanam and safety of other swamy, Lord Ayyapan will teach them a lesson for sure. That's the first lesson when fasting for Lord Ayyapan. You pay for what you earn. Guest guest
Dear Swami's, It is not just the pilgrims who have to follow cleanliness. The dewasom board should provide amenities like toilets on the way.Well it used to be a forest before. Now atleast on the route from Pamba to sannidhanam they should provide toilets at regular intervals. There is nothing more revolting than the stench of urine and to stamp on this urine prior to entering the sanctum sanctorum. The mannerisms of a swamy has to change...spitting around and urinating on the pathway has to be avoided. Guest guest
Swami Jayakumar, Pl do not feel hurt by Vijay Swami's eye opener. During my school days we were having a subject called Moral Science, which do not exist today, as it is clubbed with other science streams. What does one mean by Moral. It means to keep oneself up to date or keeping self-respect and also being good to others. The subject had different lessons like how to behave etc. Now Moral should start from ones home or from childhood. For ex. a small kid is very flexible, it will go the path it is shown by his/her parents and guardian. If this is corrected then everything will go well with the person. Whether he/she visits Guruvayoor, Madurai, Palani, Golden Temple (Amritsar), Sabari Mala or any famous temple, mosque etc etc. It is this what one has to understand. Keeping a place dirty shows how that person has been brought up. If a person throws rubbish, keeps the surroundings where he is walking thru dirty and untidy the same way he might be keeping his house or his/her staying place dirty and untidy with full of filth etc. So this has to be understood. Vijay Swami has pointed out the community but not any state or sect (which I had also mentioned in my reply mail to Vijay swami). Let us educate others who is not following the path of virtuousness. If you see a person throwing rubbish on the way just request his not to do so next time. Just see his reaction, if he is a well bred person. He will feel embarrassed and pick it up on his own throw it in one side. This can be followed for other wrong deeds. But all the Sabarimalai is full of dirt; black sticky wastes deposited, of about 11/2 " to 3 " all over paths and steps of accommodation rooms, mountains of plastic & other wastes, etc.... total area looked so bad; that time above the temple lot of water scarcity too. In 'Peryayaanaivattam' all along the path lot of food wasted ~ there was un-required qty of annadhanams by many groups. So we went again in September monthly puja, to see and have a total clean & divine dharshanam.. ... At that time after a full rainy season, total area looked so nice & great. Mr.Vijay in your mail I felt sorry to read the lines [ " Regret to see that SWAMIS from Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh are not bothered to keep temple premises " ]. - If you see 9 out of 10 Swamis with clean shaved face (it shows they had 1 day / 3 day viradham) or Swamis wearing slippers or Swamis having their irumudis in white cloth so lethargically just above their head or shoulders, without having any additional cloth below, etc... they will be from Kerala - Normally all 'ghee' from coconut will be given for abishekam directly; now many are practicing just putting all 'ghee' in the vessels kept by the temple and returning after purchasing an 'abisheka ghee' from the counter; this is not the custom taught by our Guru swami's. This time I was much elated to see no VIP / Side route, No pulling of devotees on Holy steps, No spl entries / dharshan arranged thro Melshanthi or Thanthri groups (They are allowed to do only their duties / rites and in temple close times, taking rest; which in-turn keep them fresh..... before that I used to see them as 'full time money collecting machines'),. ... many good things are regularly happening in our Sabarimala. Guest guest
Dear Swamies, To complain to TDB is equalent to shouting on a deaf's ear!! Their main aim is collect maximum money from devotees. Anyone can find it from a KSRTC stand or a Railway station. Parking not allowed at Pampa and one have to travel 22 KM to park his vehicle!! OK we can understand, it's a forest area and difficult to find parking space there. After DARSHANAM, u have to travel all the way 22 KM to Nilakkal that also by KSRTC bus. There is no arrangement to catch a bus. Even, children, aged AYYAPPAS, MALIKAPURAMS have to run before a packed bus and find difficult to board on it. Guest guest
Fully agree with this email. There is lot of jostling, pushing and the very spirit of Ayyappa swami(of keeping away from kaamam, krodham, moham, lobham) is lost as many swamis inspite of wearing mala loose their cool since the yatra is over, but the fact remains that we have to maintain the spirit of Ayyappa swami when the mala is on our neck. Guest guest
Dear Reddy, Always have a constructive mentality then only the person and its surroundings can improve. If not able to co-operate at least do not pull ones leg who is doing good to humanity. WHO DO NOT HAVE TIME TO DO IT. Everyone has got it but no one bothers to take time to do good towards humanity which is equal to godliness. You can also have time to help Nair for a good cause.
