Guest guest
Hi, I am doing Ayyappa deeksha for the second time. I do not understand few things in the deeksha, hope some one on this forum can help me clarify1. Why does a person (Swami) while in deeksha is not allowed to get hair cut and nails trimmed?2. Why do Guru swami's and senior swami's wear saffron colored clothes when ayyappa has specifically mentioned black/ blue clothes?Swami Saranam,Vish. Why delete messages? Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for your thoughts. I still request group members to provide any other comments they have.Swami Saranam,Vish.Bhanu Murthy <bhanum99Vishwam Guntupalli <visu03Wednesday, 26 December, 2007 7:51:49 AMRe: Information neededVish Swami,Very good questions.1. To get answers, let us approach it from otherdirections. Why should one cut nails or hair during atime period of 40 days? If we get answer for it thatwill give answer to why we shouldn't do it duringmandala deeksha.2. Your question has answer for it. Generally,Guruswami's wear safron clothes to separate them fromothers and also to allow other Swami's to approachhin. But as per the rules of Deeksha's told by Swami'sthat I know, all Swami's can wear Black/ Blue/ Safron.- Swami Saranam---- Vishwam Guntupalli <visu03 wrote:> Hi,> > I am doing Ayyappa deeksha for the second time. Guest guest
Dear Vish Swamy, You have asked very good questions. Please find the answers which I know. 1. When we are in Deeksha, we are supposed to be surrendered to Lord Ayyappa by leaving all our luxorious life and meditate only about him during this deeksha. And this period is treated as a "Sanyasam", as per our ancestors prescribed that we should not shave or trim the nails during sanyasam. It means we have to leave the idea to appear beautiful with good shaving and cutting etc., things. From the day onwards we start our deeksha we need to give lesser importance to external beauty and develop internal beauty about Lord Ayyappa and worship him with having any deviations. 2. Regarding Dress Code, Ayyappa deeksha is different if you compare the other deekshas. 40 days vratham, Yatra, Irumudi and lot many components are invovled. All these are kept for different purposes. It will become a big story if I explain every thing. The person who is going to Sabarimala first time, he doen't know where to start walk, what to do, how to open Irumudi what to do with material inside the irumudi etc., That's why the color code came into picture. Even though if you are going first or second or third and you are not familiar what / how to perform rituals at Sabarimala, you can approach any swamy who was in Safron or Blue. They will be treated as Guru Swamy and they will guide you the process. Even in our treking also, we don't know where to kept Irumudi safely that's why our guru swamy will lift the irumudi from our head and keep it in a safe place, till you get relaxed. Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa !!! Please call me if you have still doubts. I will answer as much as I know. I was visiting for last 12 years.
