Dear Ayyappa, I am in full of confusion towards days in Ayyappa Diksha. i.e. either 41 or 21 days. Can anybody please send your suggestions on this? Right now i had taken diksha on the basis of 21 days but some of us told it is not good or no problem or you should complete 41 days that to you are going first time as Kanney swamy like so many..... I too agree that 41 days is good but my situations (in respect of Health & Job & other living standards) is not supporting for that because of that i preferred 21 days. Could any one of you please share your views in this respect? Thanks, K. Pulla Rao.

Swami Saranam.

It is important to have the diksha with total surrender to Swami Ayyappa.

Last time, I had been as Kanni Swamy and could observe the deeksha for only 20 days or so.

Went by periyapadai and had a great darshan of Ayyappan.

Ayyappa Swami will test you in many ways during the vratham. this has been my expereince. Like on the day of Ayyappa puja, my car keys was in the car and we locked the door with all puja material in the car. We had search for the duplicate key and we could then open it.

Also, my father was hospitalised during my vratham, but still went ahead and he not only recovered but passed away after about a month of my return peacefully in sleep after partaking prasad, ghee etc.

This year I would not be able to undertake the yatra, since have to wait for the annual ceremony to be completed. But, my guruswami has permitted me to participate in bhajans, puja, and other related activities. It is only by Lord Ayyappa's grace, am able to do it. It is his will. Lot of miracles have started taking place ever since I undertook that yatra to Sabarimalai last year.

So, do not have any doubts and just concentrate on devotion to him.

In the evening, even if it is not possible to tell 108 sharana gosham, just you can tell 10-11 sharanam gosham and he would be pleased.

Lord Ayyappa would certainly bless.

Swami Saranam.

Venkatesh.

Swami Saranam,

As per my opinion “Kanni” swamy should go for

41 days diksha.

Those people are working outside at least

they should go for vratham.

And Kanniswamy

should go first Erumeli to get blessings from Vavar.

Actually in Malayalam calendar the month Vrishchigam stands for

Mandalakalam & it is belongs to Ayyappa devotees.

This is my experience only & I went sabarimala 4 times.

I have read yr queries. Ayyappa is an Ocean. No body can fix a limit of Vrutham for him. In Olden days devoees used to leave the home on 26/27 December ie,. after 41 days and they were walking towards Sabarimala. There goal was Sannidhanam and Shankranti no body used to count the days. Actually the Vrutham means from 16/ 17th November till they reach home after Shankranti Darshan. It was during this period the Temple Construction was started by PandalaRaja and Parsuramma installed the Deity on Shankranti Day. The barrest minimum must be 48 days ie., 27 Stars, 12 Rashis and 9 Grahas therefore dont put a limit. The writer who is a heartpatient with Pacemaker is glad to inform that Almity is calling him for Counselling for the past so many years. Further this humbel servant has undertaken the fast this year from 17th July 2007 and would like to continue till Shankranti with the Blessings of God. If u get 35 Marks u get promoted. With 60 Marks u go to the next class Even if u get 100 Marks u go to the next class. Would be satisfied with 35 marks or 60 marks or would u like to score 100 Marks. Sabarimala Pilgrimage / Vrutham is to get maximum Blessings of Almity. Therefore do not put any limit such as 21 days / 41 days it should be full ie. minimum 60 days

As u said u r a Kanni i took the liberty of putting the views passed on to me by my Seniors who had gone more than 50 times by walking without any break in between. I trust the advice of my Seniors will be appreciated by you. I pray God u undertake Sabri yatra every year without break in the coming years.

Inspite of my Health problems my Master is calling me for counselling for the last 40 Shankrantis without any break. This is possible because of my Seniors Blessings and Guidance

Hence when u select yr Guruswamy please ensure that he is knowlegable and can guide his Juniors on the right path .

I am sending the copy of this message to the people who have advised u abt the Vrutham so that they dont misguide people in the future.
