It means "You are essentially That -- the Supreme Reality".This is well addressed in one of the songs sung my Yesudas -- Manasinn Ullin Daivam Irunnal Manushyanum Daivamum Onnu....In simple words, THATH THAM ASI means the Lord says "You Are Me".Hope this answers your query... It is simple ...What you are to the world the world will be to you...Like if you are good to someone the other person will be good to you...If oyu stand in front of mirror The reflection will smile at you ..if you frown ..the reflection will frown.. Tattwamasi means the same..Here it the God who is in front of the mirror and you are its reflection...God is in you...You are Gods reflection...The Reflection is nothing on its own no life or existance, its not real...That means you are nothing on your own...But as in the example of mirror we feel its all real...Its all his maya..which u think is real... Tattwamasi measn God is the real one and all are his manifestations..God has created the world...but not difficulties or greviances...Its your thinking of Self...which creates difficulties nad problem...Thats the funda of vratham also...forget your self... be one with god... VAratham teaches us...to leave our self..our Ego...and be one with God.. Atma is Part of Pramatma....But Pramatam is nothing wihtout Atma... e.g. A Brick is a part of Castle...A castle cant be complete without Bricks...
