1. SATISFACTION IN DAILY LIFE

Satisfaction arises when we are true and honest to ourselves and our

inner principles. When we listen to our conscience, we can never go

wrong. Today, what has happened is that we have killed our VIVEK, our

conscience, the intellect which tells us whats right and wrong. This

does not happen over-night. We sometimes make decisions that please

others, our friends, society etc. but our mind does not agree to it.

That is, we ignore our intellect. Such actions make the intellect

weak and then comes a time when bad qualities overpower us because we

have no inner strength.

This is why the humans are searching for some- thing in life, they

think physical things, physical entertainment is going to help them

but the root cause of unhappiness lies inside us. We are not feeding

the mind with good thoughts, good principles but are always

surrounded by negative thinking, bad qualities. If I want to be

satisfied in life, lead a happy life, I should be able to honestly

tell myself that - I HAVE DONE MY BEST. If I can say this with a

clear conscience, then nothing anyone says can change it. Maybe what

I do will give me immediate success or immediate recognition, but if

I have sown a good seed of hardwork, good wishes for others etc. I

WILL DEFINITELY GET THE FRUITS. I only need to be patient. Every

morning, start the day with positive thoughts. Having a faith in

yourself is the most important thing you need for success in life.

2. BE KIND TO ALL

The key to be nice to everyone is to recognise your own innate

qualities and then those of others. We all have weaknesses in us - no

doubt, but those weaknesses are foreigners. Our original qualities

are of peace, love, mercy and all the good stuff. Every single human

being is made up of these qualities but because we allow bad things

to overpower us, we do wrong things and then we are named 'bad

people'.

Everyone wants to be happy, peaceful, loved by all. There is no

exception. Even the worst kind of person you have met, does all those

bad things because in their disturbed little mind, they think it will

give them happiness. But it is a universal law that whatever you

give, you receive. If you spread bad vibrations, negative feelings -

even in your thinking - you will get it back sometime or the other.

Even physics says that action and reaction are equal and opposite.

Sometimes, it does happen that when we are good to others, they

respond in the opposite way. We might have hurt Ms X sometime, and

are getting it back. It is a very subtle but important principle that

governs relationships. Pure wishes go a long way in creating good

relationships.

3. DEVELOP CONCENTRATION POWER

Most people today have this problem - we just cannot control our

mind, so don't think you are alone. The problem is that throughout

the day, we are continuously using our mind, thinking about numerous

things and by the end of the day, we are completely drained. This is

because we do not stop to recharge the mind, or the battery, in other

words.

There are mainly 4 types of thoughts that run around in our mind

daily - positive, negative, waste and necessary. As you can guess, we

humans think more negative (inspired by anger, ego, jealousy, greed

etc.) and waste thoughts than positive thoughts (inspired by love,

understanding, forgiveness, all the good stuff). No one gives much

importance to thoughts but they are our greatest asset. Even science,

something we practically worship, was born out of ideas, thoughts and

we humans have this treasure. USE IT WELL! These two things, negative

and waste thoughts, are like weeds. As you know, weeds do not harm

the plants directly, but they absorb the nutrients from the soil and

so, there is nothing left for the plants. Similarly, the more we

think negatively or wastefully, we lose inner strength and then, when

we want to be positive, we want to do a good action, there is no

inner drive left. The more we think positive about ourselves and our

actions, we regenerate our energy and then any action will be

successful. Maybe now, things do not look good, but the more you

train the mind, the more it will work for you.

This new attitude about life needs to be developed. So, atleast 5

times throughout the day, sit back and think good thoughts for a few

minutes. Think about how we are playing our individual roles in life

but we are different, we have our own specialities, values, etc. When

we concentrate, we use our mind and intellect together. One without

the other is useless. Sometimes when we are reading and someone later

asks what we just read, we go blank because we were only using the

mind while reading, the intellect was off wandering somewhere.

Whatever work we are doing, we need to visualise it, not just

superficially think about it.

This is in fact meditation - learning to control your mind,

concentrate on what you want. Meditation does not only mean sitting

on top of mountain, and forgetting the world. But, it is the method

of living in the world and yet not getting lost in it. They are a

number of things we see, hear and do throughout the day, but we need

to control what goes inside the mind.

4. WHERE IS GOD?

People usually say WHERE IS GOD? when they are going through a rough

patch and they doubt that He can help them. But, this is quite an

intriguing character, once you get to know more about God. For

centuries people have wanted to know and find God. You might have

noticed in your life that when we are in trouble or pain, we often

remember those people who have given us comfort and guidance -

parents, siblings, friends, teachers etc. The same occurs with God.

Since we have received some kind of peace, pure love from this

source, we want to go back to it. Many feel that God does not exist.

But all living form on earth require some source of energy. Nothing

runs on its own accord. Similarly when we humans drain ourselves of

our positivity, our zeal and enthusiasm for life, our peace of mind,

we need to go to a reservoir to re-charge our mental battery. Science

does not believe in anything that is not tangible or something that

cannot be physically tested. But the world is full of things that are

not LOGICAL - relationships, emotions, thoughts. We cannot experiment

on these, we can only experience them. Similarly, God's power is so

magnificent that our narrow, limited intellects need to effort in

order to feel it.

Human beings have looked and done millions of things in order to

reach God. But that is difficult when we do not have a good

description of God. Human beings have become so confused with all the

different opinions and given up - there probably isn't any God. But

to know who God really is, we have to understand what characteristics

such a divine, almighty authority will have.

God should be

* universally accepted (God should be such a form or entity that will

be worshipped by all souls. He is not just my spiritual Father, but

the Father of all souls - Parampita)

* uninfluenced by the effects of sorrow and happiness (always in a

state of bliss, balance between love and detachment)

* Knower of the 3 aspects of time (knows everything about the past,

present, future)

* Never enters the cycle of birth and death (anyone who takes on a

body becomes trapped in that specific era; our body becomes a

barrier; we cannot know about everything that is happening in the

world at a particular time - but God does)

* Lastly, God is a benefactor (He never takes anything, always and

ONLY gives; He does not need anything because He does not have a

body. With a body, there are numerous things we need to give it for

proper growth. But God is the only soul that does not have a body of

His own. He always works selflessly.)

God is a separate, conscient point of divine energy, who has a

particular home, somewhere beyond our universe, and that is where we

came from. That is our true home. As souls, we lived there and then

came on earth to play our roles as actors, as Shakespeare put it.

People today, shy away from spirituality and religion, but that is

the only thing which will protect us eternally.

5. CHALLENGES IN LIFE

Do you know what happens to actors and actresses when they start

taking their profession too seriously, they begin playing a role in

REAL life as well. They forget their real identity. That is sad. The

same thing has happened to us today. We are all aware that we are

just guests on this earth and that one day we will have to leave it -

meaning we will have to leave our body (death), but how many of us go

through life taking it as a game, or a challenge. Over time, after

taking birth after birth we have forgotten that we are just actors on

this world stage.

Even if you doubt that reincarnation takes place you will agree that

we are more than just our bodies - the human being is the most

fortunate species on earth, since it has an intellect; the power to

reason. We are a separate entity from the body. Our emotions, our

value system, our principles or personality are not physical things.

Science today can study our brains but there is no device that can

measure our thoughts. We are souls or spirits or energy and we use

the body to express ourselves. Both are needed.

We take on a body, a role in this drama in our particular families

and try to play our part as best as we can. But sometimes, we get so

involved in our role that we forget that we are just actors and also

that other people are also just actors. That is when situations are

not taken as challenges but as PROBLEMS. We are put off when people

say things to us, we feel angry and hurt, we get upset when things do

not happen our way. If you are familiar with physics, there is a law

which states that all action and reactions are equal and opposite.

Similarly, when we do wrong actions we will have to pay for it

sometime or the other. These come in the form of challenges, as test-

papers. The key to handling situation is A POSITIVE ATTITUDE. You

might have experienced that when we are negative about situations, or

we are tense and frustrated, then we don't think clearly. We do not

find solutions, but with a relaxed mind, we can FOCUS.

So everytime you are challenged in life, take time to step back -

what is called detach yourself from the situation and think - OK this

is part of the drama, I will think carefully about my actions because

they are going to affect my future. I have to play a good role. If

other people want to over-react and get upset, they are only spoiling

their own role. This takes practise but you will find that everything

in this world will look beautiful. You will learn to see the positive

side about each and every situation- no matter what it maybe. The

thought power is our greatest treasure - we need to use it more

often. Every morning, before starting your day, mentally go through

all the things you are going to do today AND most importantly, try to

be flexible. Many times we are rigid in our thinking - things have to

go smoothly, but leave space for SURPRISES. The more test- papers I

pass, the more I will grow as a person.

Everything happens for a good reason - believe this. A situation may

look like a storm for the moment, but somewhere hidden is the benefit

and we have to be patient enough to see it.
