Dear VS,

As a sequel to the posting. I would throw some light on my previous e-mail and answer all your relevant queries.

'Spirit-servant' is a type of Shakthi which the Great Yogi possessed.

I remember once reading in one of HH Narasimha Swamiji's accounts of Shirdi Sai Baba.

A vague remembrance of the account goes like this: One old devotee of Baba goes to Shirdi and when he has darshan of Baba and sleeps in the hotel/resting place in Shirdi. In the night he has a dream/vision wherein he sees lot of small angels(devathas) cleaning every vein,blood vessel,nerve and organ of his body.When he questions the angels as to who they were, they reply back to him that they are Baba's 'spirit-servants'

Meher Baba 'talked'(he never spoke a word but showed on a slate with alphabets and numbers what he wanted to convey) about the presence of Abduls and Afridis.(Who were celestial workers for a particular saint).

The walrus-moustached Auto-driver belonged to one such category.

These are concepts which are beyond our ken and reasoning.

Spirit-calling:

What I saw was not some spirit or some 'siddha-maya'('sitthu-vilayattu' as the Tamizhs call) but one from a category of celestial workers.

The semi-subtle sphere is the chain that links the physical, material world to the subtle plane. During our habitual dreams we make use of the subtle body and in a subconscious way we perceive sensations belonging to the physical, material world. In certain conditions it is possible to make conscious use of the physical senses in such a way that we can contact the semi-subtle sphere. We can, because of this fact, enter into communication with the spirits of the dead. These spirit communications have nothing to do with the spiritual life, nor with subtle spirit, nor with the spiritual planes. There is a vast difference between the subtle sphere and the semi-subtle sphere.

After death the spirits of human beings (except for those who have sufficiently progressed on the spiritual path and are beyond the fourth plane) reach the semi-subtle sphere. According to their sanskaras they go to "heaven" or "hell"; and when they achieve the point they had to attain, they can return to earth with a new body (reincarnate); or otherwise they return to the semi-subtle sphere for a certain time. These spirits are, so to say, in the ante-chamber of the semi-subtle sphere and one can enter into contact with them through the means of spirit communication, whether they have achieved their period of joy or pain, and wait for a new rebirth, or whether they are on the point of going to "heaven" or "hell". The semi-subtle sphere, "heaven" or "hell" with their respective experiences, have no reality. They are merely the joys and pains experienced through the organs of the subtle body.

It is advisable to attribute only relative importance to certain descriptions of life after death, although they may be exact. Spiritually evolved persons can communicate with high spirits but it is preferable that they abstain. Human beings can never enter into communication with the high spirits who belong to the subtle, mental or spiritual planes; because even if they have to reincarnate they do not sojourn in the ante-chamber of the semi-subtle sphere.

So, all the claims of people who seem to talk with spirits,Siddhas,Yogis are to be taken with a pinch of salt. Unless the person is really of high spiritual calibre, it would be a rather difficult proposition.They might be however, talking to disjoint entities who fool all with claims of being a Yogi or Mahapurusha.

Ganja:

Ganja/Opium/Bhang/Marijuana

Opium is called "Shiva-prasadam" but unless it is given by an Aghori-Guru, who knows the mantra and has got Maha-siddhi and controls the detrimental effects of the narcotic substance, one should never even smell its fumes.It is a highly dangerous narcotic substance and don't go about taking this 'shiva-prasadam' which gives euphoric feelings that you have become a big yogi and then finally ends in your death.

 

 

Here Parvati is shown lovingly offering bhang, the favorite herbal intoxicant of ascetics to Shiva. They are both seated on a leopard skin. The ashen Shiva wears a loincloth, armbands, and Rudraksha bead malas as also precious necklaces. A snake coils around his neck forming another necklace and also at the same time partaking of the bhang being offered to Shiva. A skull and burning logs in the foreground create the ambience of a cremation ground. The kamandal and staff point to the essentially ascetic nature of Shiva.

Parvati is shown bejewelled and well-groomed, a perfect contrast to the naked ascetic with his unruly hair sliding down his shoulders like serpentine coils.

 

Here, he sits on a mat preparing bhang, a narcotic drug which arouses the senses and fills the mind with a feeling of tranquility. An intoxicating drink is made out of the leaves the Indian hemp Cannabis Indica, and this decoction is then mixed with sweetened milk.

All this looks romantic and seductive but be warned that though there are a lot of medical and spiritual benefits of taking this potent plant, the harmful side-effects are also equally great.Medically and spiritually, without proper supervision leads to imbalance of mind, cancerous growth in lungs and death.
