Lord Dattatreya was born to Atri and Mata Anasuya.

Mata Anasuya Mandir is at Mahur. Mahur is Lord Dattatreya birthplace as well as he takes rest there (Nidra Sthan). At Mahur there are 3 hills. On the 1st hill there is a Mata Renuka Devi Mandir, which is one of the Skatipithas. Mata Renuka is wife of Rushi Jamadagni and mother of Lord Parshurama.

On the 2nd hill there is Lord Dattatreya temple. One can easily notice the silence in the temple, since it's a Nidra Sthan. On the 3rd hill there is Mata Anasuya temple.

We generally visit Mahur twice in a year. On the Dattashikhar (2nd hill) there is a small room in that there is a golden idol of lord datta. I have seen it when I was around 8 years old. I still remember it. Then after that room was closed for public darshan. Don't know the reason. But whenever we go there we offer a pranam at the locked door.

I remember one incident, I was a small kid that time and was playing in that temple and went to that room and saw a sadhavi doing meditation. I was very much scared when I saw her and immediately rushed to my grandmother and hold her strongly J
