In continuation to the earlier posting on Varanasi kshetra, now I am trying to give some information on Harischandra Ghat of Varanasi kshetra. It is a must for every one who is visiting the Kashi kshetra have to visit this Ghat and one will get vairaagya bhavana by seing the Ghat. 24 hours nonstop burning of dead bodies can be observed by everyone.HARISCHANDRA GHAT OF VARANASI: This Ghat is indirectly telling to every one to stand for Honesty and Truthfullness. We can see that the dead bodies are in the stage of burning in the Ghat for round the clock. By visiting this Ghat, a "VAIRAAGYA BHAVANA" will definitely originate in our minds. All the other aspects of life are appears to be waste. By moving form that ghat, again the one will behave as usual. The Bodha of Harischandra King: With his vow to remain truthful at all times, Harischandra successfully faced the rigorous challenge posed by Vishwamitra. Though a king. He sacrificed everything he had at the attar of truth, including his Kingdom, and even his life and son. He took so lowly a job as that of the guard at burning ground; even in the case of his own son he demanded the prescribed fee for cremation, which his wife had no means of paying. On an order from the king, Harischandra even prepared to behead his own wife. Harischandra's character is indelibly etched in the mind of Hindus. The story of Harischandra King: Harischandra, his wife Chandramati, and their young son Rohitaswa, left the city and reached Kasi Kshetra. Harischandra sold himself to a person whose job was to burn out the corpses that came to the ghat of river Ganga. One day a, snake bit young Rohitaswa, and the boy died. Chandramati cried and cried. At last, she carried the boy's body to the burning ghat. Harischandra was at work at the time.It was late in the evening. So the husband and wife did not recognise each other at first. When, later they did, they cried together' over their dead son. Chandramati had to give to the owner of the ghat a piece of cloth as fee, but she had none to give. All the same Haris - chandra said, the fee must be paid. At last Chandramati started to tear off a part of the cloth she wore around herbody. At that moment the gods appeared before them and said, " Harischandra! We are satisfied with your nobility and love of truth. It was all a device by which we meant to test youYour son is not dead. Look, he has come back to life. You may now return to Ayodhya and rule over it, again. May your name be ever remembered for truthfulness!" Then they disappeared, Harischandra ruled over the country for a long time. Today there is a cremation ground at Kasi called Harischandra ghat. Please see the attached photo graphs of Harischandra Ghat of Varanasi kshetra. Harischandra ghat of varanasi ksehtra Harischandra's name has come to stay in the story of our country.
