Guest guest
Sri Sri Barphani Baba The Mystic Saint of India by Padma Divinity manifests itself periodically to shower its grace on mankind. This is how the mass of men come to realise how much God cares for them. The advent of Barphani Baba is living proof of that grace. The duly recorded day of his birth is Diwali 1792 which means that he is now 206 years old. His disciples say that he has not changed since the last several decades. In fact nobody knows his real age. Some people say he is thousands of years old. Godmen like Barphani Baba are born to fulfil a divinely ordained mission. That is why they take care to see that their physical vehicles have to remain sturdy throughout their sojourn in this world. Barphani Baba stays in his Ashram at Amarkantak on the banks of the holy river Narmada, or at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. He also visits the Assam region of the Himalayas. A team of devotees from Viskhapatnam recently had darshan of Sri Barphani Baba and some of the experiences they narrated to the Editor of Mihira are presented in this exclusive feature. An eye-witness account of Dhunivala Baba Twenty - year - old Anuradha Bindal from Raipur, one of the close disciples of Barphani Baba had the rare good fortune of seeing Dhunivala Baba, the Master of Shirdi Sai Baba and Barphani Baba. Ms. Bindal narrated her experience to Mihira as follows : "On May 12, 1996, Guruji (Barphani Baba) was performing a Vishnuyajna in Indore. I attended the yajna along with my family members. In the evening, we all saw an old man sitting in a chair on the dais by the side of Barphani Baba. We prostrated to the feet of the venerable looking aged man. The next day, my brother and I again had his darshan and He blessed me by touching my head and gave me a mala (garland of flowers). Later, we came to know that the aged man was none other than Dhunivala Baba, the Master who came to the yajna on Babaji's invitation. Babaji frequently invokes saints who come in physical form to bless the devotees gathered to participate in the yajna." The very word `Baba' has to the Indian mind, a unique sweet resonance evoking images of a loving mother, a protective father and a kind but strict spiritual mentor. Like Shirdi Baba and Sri Satya Sai Baba, Barphani Baba also is a centre of Divine Energy that heals physical and psychological ailments, that grants the desires of devotees only to help them reach the peace - promoting desireless state that can be ushered in when the limits and limitations of the ego are shattered. Sri Barphani Baba is living proof that, with yogic powers, an evolved man can defy and defeat the so-called immutable biological laws of nature like growing old and becoming decrepit. The duly recorded birth day is Diwali 1792, which means that he is now two hundred and six years old. The answer of the eighty year old and ninety year old disciples of Barphani Baba to queries about Baba's actual age is invariably, "No one knows. All we can say is that we first had darshan of Baba when we were young boys. He has not changed. He looks now exactly as he did at that time". Some claim that Baba is thousands of years old. In fact, nobody knows his real age. Baba's father Ramdutt Dubey was a Brahmin feudal lord living in the village Dodekoda, (District Unnan) in Uttar Pradesh. He was a good and pious man, well-liked by everyone. God gave him everything any human being can ever wish for, except children. When his first wife failed to give him any children he was advised by elders in the family to marry again and he did so. But he had no luck this time also and married a third time. When fate decreed that this should also be a barren union, the now desperate Ramdutt went with his wives to Omkareswar begged Sri Gowri Sankar Maharaj to give him the boon of children. The compassionate Baba from whom Shirdi Baba received his initiation into the spiritual path, took pity on Ramdutt and giving two whacks each to the first two wives of Ramdutt with his "brahma dandam", the cane he carries, he blessed them and said they both would have children but that the youngest child should be given tohim to be made a sadhu. Ramdutt and his wives agreed to the condition and went home. The Sun and the Moon may stray from their course but the words of Mahatmas never fail. In the course of time the Dubey family was blessed with four sons and the youngest, Haridutt is the saint now worshipped by devotees as Barphani baba. The boy in his eighth year was handed over to Dhunivala Baba. A Godman named Arjundas, who had an Ashram at Ayodhya visited Saikeda at about the same time and Dhunivala Baba entrusted to him the care of child Haridutt. With Arjundas and his disciples Barphani Baba went on a tour of all the major shrines in India. He spent ten years in Benares learning Sanskrit from Vidvan Sri Kola Brahmachari. The Vidvan also gave lessons to his young disciple in Logic, Grammar and Ayurveda. After mastering these subjects Baba went to the Himalayas to do "tapas". In the next decade he visited Nepal, Ranikhet, Pitorghad, Tibet and Manasa Sarovar and after years of intense and extremely difficult to follow spiritual practices he acquired many occult powers. Many esoteric yoga secrets were explained to him by Himalayan Masters like Languria Baba, who, living in an invisible form at Jnanganj selects eligible aspirants and imparts to them many yogic powers. Godmen like Barphani Baba are born to accomplish a particular chosen mission in life and till they achieve that goal they have to be physically fit to endure all hardships in all sorts of climates. Keeping this in mind, Barphani Baba with the help of Siddhi Ganesh Lama of Tibet, underwent "Kaya Kalpa Chikitsa", (a rejuvenation procedure prescribed in yoga) at the age of 136, i.e., in 1928, and manages to retain the vigour of youth even after crossing two hundred and six. Barphani Baba himself told some of the Ashramites that Puleria Baba taught this rejuvenation technique to him, to Ganesh Lama, to Dr. Rambhaji and to many others including some Godmen who are now residing in Australia. Even today he initiates Buddhist Lamas into several orders. Sri Baba is an adept in Lama Vidya (travelling in air with the physical body,) and Khanda Vidya (separatingparts of body and again connecting them). One of Barphani Baba's disciples, Moni Baba heads the Ashram at the remote village `Ram mandir' in Gujarat had the good fortune of receiving this rejuvenation from the hands of his master. Chief among the many Ashrams of Barphani Baba is the Ashram at Amarkantak on the banks of the holy river Narmada. Baba chose this place because four crore evolved souls reside here in invisible form. Sri Hanuman and Sri Aswatthama are among the regular visitants to this place. It is only the merit accrued from many previous lives, combined with a highly evolved Guru's grace that allows one access to this Ashram located in breath takingly beautiful surroundings. The towering mountains all round it, the pure air fragrant with incense, camphor and the scent of rare medicinal plants like `Gulebakavali' have rightly made it the centre for Baba's many instructional courses in such incredible subjects as coming out of the body to enter a dead person's body, learning the secret of eternal youth, mastering the ability for astral travel, the technique of walking across water, the science of awakening the kundalini and so on. Baba's second major ashram is located in Indore. Here the idols of Mother Tripura Sundari, Bagla Mukhi are installed. Sri Ramayan Das, a disciple of Barphani Baba, looks after ashram known also for the reasearch centre for medicine. With the knowledge of Vedic herbs taught here aspirants have cured people suffering from many life-threatening diseases like cancer. Plans are afoot here to establish a research centre for hitherto unravelled secrets of occultism and ancient yogic practices. It is beyond human comprehension to know anything about the `sensors' used by Godmen to pick up channels through whom their mission of world welfare would be carried out. It is a matter of rejoicing for us that Master EK was most definitely one such Godman. It is only his grace that enabled a few of his disciples to spend ten days in Barphani Baba's Ashram. Baba's sending through them a "Meru" and a `Salagram' to be installed in the shrine room of Sri MRL, one of Master EK's closest disciples (a favour Sri MRLearned for his devout and affectionate nature, profound scholarship and dedication to the cause of implementing Master EK's teachings) shows that our lives are an open book to Godmen and events are not accidents but fruition of the Divine will manifesting through these pure hearted brothers. Sri MRL, used as he was to receiving visitors at all odd hours of the day and night seeking his advice for medical or astrological problems was astonished to find a young lady Ms.Anuradha Bindal, from Raipur, knocking on his door and informing him that Barphani Baba had sent her to him to receive advanced instruction in astrology and other occult subjects. She also told him that all she was told was to go to Visakhapatnam and meet Mr. MRL and that her faith in Barphani Baba helped her to locate his address from among the hundreds of others in the city who bore the same name as MRL. Godmen's lives abound in miracles or at least what we in our as yet unenlightened state consider miracles, though to the Godmen performing them they are natural occurrences normal in the dimension of the reality of the sixth sense. The miracle of Barphani Baba reported to Sri MRL concerned the experience of Ms.Bindal's parents. As a teenager, her father, a contractor was a devotee of Baba. But later on in life, caught up in the rat race of modern day living he stopped meeting Baba. He got married. One day when he was away and his wife was all alone in the bungalow, she came across an old calendar carrying a portrait of Lord Vishnnu. As she gazed at the picture it seemed to come to life. The next minute, to her utter surprise a strikingly divine looking old man with a flowing beard emanated out of the picture and stood before her. She was too overawed to speak and the old man told her that her husband was once his disciple and that he wanted him to come and meet him as he had an important piece of advice to pass on to him. Saying this he vanished. The contractor's wife immediately phoned to her husband to come home urgently. When he came she asked him if he had a Guru in his younger days. He thought for some time and replied "Yes. His name was Barphani Baba". She then asked him to describe hisGuru. He described Baba exactly matching the old man she had seen earlier. She recounted everything that happened. They spent a sleepless night wondering where and how they could meet Baba because he left no address and the contractor, being out of touch with Baba for nearly fifteen years, had no idea where he could be found. Next morning through an amazing coincidence, in a newspaper wrapped round something they bought, they found a brief mention of a mysterious Sadhu creating a sensation in a nearby village by his astounding occult powers. The photograph printed along with the news report was that of Barphani Baba! That evening the couple went to the village to seek Baba's blessings. Gently chiding the contractor for forgetting everything he was taught about sadhana, Baba suggested to him a solution to a financial problem that had been weighing on his mind and they vouched to Mr. MRL, based on their experience that the love with which Baba looks after the welfare of his devotees is a thousand times more intense than that of one's own mother. Barphani Baba has made many prophecies. A few of the predictions about the national and the international scene attributed to Barphani Baba are listed below. Many newspapers in North India have published these as extracts from an exclusive interview given to reporters by Barphani Baba when they met him at Hardwar during the Kumbh Mela. 1) A world-war is most likely in 1999. It will last till the year 2005 and leave in its wake great destruction. 2) Colossal loss of life will be caused by many natural calamities also. 3) Work is afoot for the birth of a great nation, an undivided India stretching from Afghanistan to Sri Lanka. Leaders of Pakistan will have to come to a compromise. Otherwise Pakistan may cease to exist. 4) In 1999 a meteor will crash into the earth. Because of it tidal waves will occur in India making waves of the ocean rise to a height of 44 feet in Bombay, 22 feet in Madras and 161/2 feet in Calcutta. Great damage will be caused in all coastal areas. 5) Severe earthquakes will occur in many places in North India, especially in Gujarat and Rajasthan. 6) The year 2000 will be a bad period not only to India but to the whole world. The worst affected will be America. 7) Heavy floods will occur in Japan and France. 8) Elections for the Parliament, in India will be held in the year 2000 9) From the year 2005 the glorious reign of Rama will start in India. 10) Rishis from Gangothri in the Himalayan region will bring two Rajput boys to Delhi. 11) 1998 is a very bad year. The Government and Merchants will loot the people. Artificial scarcity of goods will be created by their deliberate withdrawal from the market. 12) Hoarding and black marketing will be rampant 13) 1999 marks the Khappar era. That is why terrible wars will be fought on earth. There will be extensive bloodshed. Weapons used in fighting will be mostly related to fire. 14) Because of foreign companies India will incur great financial loss. 15) The great godmen and the host of Rishis who had always resided in the sacred regions of the Himalayas will manifest themselves in the form of three great souls. Two will appear in the form of Brahma while one will appear in varied forms. 16) Domestic discord will increase. Because the star Agastya sets in the night and Sankranthi begins on a Saturday, householders will have a tough time. 17) Differences of opinion will arise among democratic countries and may lead to grave consequences. 18) The River Godavari will change its course. 19) In 1999 in the month of May, on one single day the heat will be so much that lakhs of people will die due to a heat wave. 20) The earthquakes will be so severe that some of the mountains will break into two or more parts. (Predictions are collected from Kartik Times, Jabalpur; Navabharat, Nagpur; and Praja Thantra, Jabalpur) Sri Babaji is planing the Yajna, a ritual for world peace in months of March - April. Millions of people are expected to attend this Yajna. Many divine sages in and out of body will assemble at this Yajna to bring about peace and harmony among people in the world at this difficult time of the century. Further details can be obtained from Sri Babaji's Ashrams. The addresses are furnished herewith. ----Editor.) THE WAYS OF GODMEN by D.V.R. Murthy Many are the ways of Godmen in blessing their disciples. They choose the place and the time for bestowing their grace and their meeting the disciples is as ordained by God. Barphani Baba, (the divine-incarnate) of Amarkantak, believed to be one of the forms of Lord Hanuman has a thorough grasp of the past, the present and the future as he is attuned to the cosmic plan. The way Barphani Baba has taken into his `fold' an `ordinary sadhu' is proof of this fact. The head of the Indore Ashram, Sri Ramayan Das, during his recent visit to Visakhapatnam, recounted his experiences to the author. The 68-year old Ramayan Das is an example of the divine grace of Barphani Baba. He received his initiation from Sri Barphani Baba on June 18, 1998. Actually Ramayan Das wanted to be initiated into the monastic order by one Kalyandas Swami of Dongargarh. The initiation took place on May 7, 1998. According to Ramayan Das, when he was initiated by Barphani Baba on June 18, 1998, he "felt at home" and experienced a surge of peace in his heart. Although Ramayan Das was born and bred in Gujarat, some mysterious inner urge guided him to Barphani Baba's Ashram at Amarkantak. When Sri Ramayan Das stepped into the premises of Babaji's Ashram, he realised that he belonged to that place. The minute Barphani Baba saw him, he called Sri Das and gave him initiation and asked him to go to Indore to look after the Ashram there. As ordered by Guruji, he left for Indore on October 18, 1998. Narrating his experiences with Barphani Baba, Sri Ramayan Das said that in his eyes Baba was none other than God. When requested to recount his experiences of Baba's divinity, he told us about a few miracles performed by Barphani Baba, a Sri Vidya Upasika. It seems once when Sri Ramayan Das along with Barphani Baba was going to village, `Talwada' in Bansatwada district of Rajasthan, where a temple of Goddess Tripura Sundari is located. Babaji told him that the temple was constructed 5000 years ago and that the temple at the Indore ashram was built on those lines. The Goddess installed in the temple is Tripura Sundari and is known as `Indore Ka Tripura Sundari'. Sri Ramayan Das said that Babaji saved a married woman about to lose her eye sight. The father of the lady was a devotee of Babaji. When doctors in Hyderabad declared that the lady would become blind as "lumps in the eyes" were forming and they could not be operated upon, the devotee approached Babaji and prayed for help. Babaji referred the case to one of his disciples a surgeon, Dr. Raizada of Bhopal and instructed him to perform the operation immediately. The initial reaction of all the other doctors in the hospital was fear and unwillingness and they refused to operate. But, Dr. Raizada had implicit faith in Babaji and conducted the operation which was successful. Everyone felt happy that the lady's blindness was averted. Babaji told the father that for one year the lady should not be sent to her in-law's place. Such is the force of `Karma' that the lady was sent to her husband's place against the express orders of Babaji. She became pregnant and lost her eyesight during delivery. In another instance, Babaji was travelling with some of his disciples in a car from Amarkantak to Indore. On the way, the car ran out of petrol. The passengers were stranded in the jungle, in the middle of nowhere. Then, Babaji asked the driver of the car to bring water from a nearby well and fill the petrol tank. He did as instructed by Babaji. To the surprise of everyone, the car moved and they continued their journey. But, Babaji on reaching the destination asked the driver to pour the exact amount of the petrol back in the well. On another occasion, the car in which Babaji was travelling developed a serious mechanical problem. But such is Babaji's power that, the car continued to move normally and Babaji along with all his disciples reached the ashram safely. On arrival at the destination, the axle broke and the wheels came apart. The loose nuts and bolts were to be found at the site of the trouble. Once, Babaji asked people around him to bring a small amount of mercury and got it burnt in front of them. When the ashes were collected, Babaji converted it back to mercury and asked a scientist in the gathering to test it. Transformation of matter from one state to another is not at all difficult for a man of Babaji's evolved yogic powers. That is the greatness of Babaji. But, Babaji always cautions the disciples that `miracles' should not be performed indiscriminately since divine energy must not be misused. Babaji never `exhibits' his divine powers. For all outward purposes he looks like a normal person attending to a normal routine in life. For a true saint this world-other world dichotomy does not exist. He sees the imprint of God in everything and everyone. Ordinary people in their ignorance allow "reservations" and conditioning factors to limit their capacity to find God. That is why they are too preoccupied with outer ritual and miss the divine presence of God. The sayings "nearest to the temple, farthest from God", seems to be true of people who associate divinity with rules and codes. Purity of heart is what matters rather than ascetic denial, and Sri Ramayan Das reiterates the teaching of his guru Sri Barphani Baba, "The true temple of God is a pure and loving heart". Sri Ramayan Das concluded his narration by saying that that one should visit Sri Barphani Baba to experience His divinity. Guest guest
Hello , Its a great reading experience. I personally visited Bharpahni Baba in Visakhapatnam. But i dont his full life history. Thanks a lot for giving this information. As of my knowledge before keeping Ashram in Amarkantak Bharphani Maharj did a tapasya in himalayas and got a physical dharsan of Shiva and got a shiva linga of mercury from him. It is still there in the Amarkantak ashram. I got this info from one of the deciples of my guru.
