MANTRA SAADHANA Dear Members! Jaigurudevdatta!!!!!!! Many members of the group are asking about Mantra sadhana and the way in which we have to recite a mantra of the Lord. There are some steps to follow to get the powerful results from the Mantra. 1.Mantra power: Each Mantra having its own power and it will generate the vibrations while reciting the Mantra. The God of concerned mantra will always live in that mantra as said “MANTRAADHEENANTHU DAIVATHAM”. The Lord will always be in the control of that Mantra. 2.Gnaanam Annam: In the process of recitation, first we have to know the meaning of the Mantra and it is very useful for every sadhana. Understanding itself is Annam. The Scientific explanation for the effects of Mantra: Effects of Mantra: For thousands of years, yogis have been teaching the value of mantra in stabilizing and clearing the mind, leading one to deeper spiritual awakening. Modern neuroscience is also beginning to discover the relationship between mental functioning and the way words are used. The following graphic is from the book The Secret Life of the Brain, by Richard Restak, M.D. (©2001, Richard M. Restak and David Gruben Productions, Inc.). Ways of using words or Mantra: Notice the explanation of increased blood flow (indicating increased activity) to the various parts of the brain, depending on whether one is hearing, seeing, speaking, or thinking of words. Regarding thinking about words, the text points out that "thinking about words engages the limbic association area responsible for thought, learning, perception, and emotion." Cultivating higher functioning: This higher functioning is intentionally cultivated by yogis through the practices of mantra, meditation, and contemplation. Not only do the yogis use mantra (i.e., words), but often recommend focusing the attention on this frontal part of the brain as well, placing attention in the ajna chakra, the center accessed through the space between the

eyebrows. "Remembering" the Mantra: In Yoga Meditation science, different means of using mantra are prescribed. The silent, inner remembering way of using mantra use considered a higher, more effective form than hearing, reading, or speaking the mantra. Many benefits come from the proper use of mantra, including dealing with ways of thinking, ability to learn, ways of perceiving, and positive use of emotions (the four points mentioned by Dr. Restak in the text above). Collectively, these benefits set the stage for the deeper practices of meditation, contemplation, and prayer. Mantra is universal: In reflecting on the relationship between mantra and brain physiology, it is most important to remember that mantra is not a practice solely used by the Eastern traditions. The use of mantra, word, compact prayer, or affirmation is recommended by

virtually all religions and meditative traditions, although they might describe or use them in different ways. For example, the meaning of Dattaguru mantra ‘DIGAMBARA DIGAMBARA SHREEPAADA VALLABHA DIGAMBARA’ is Digamabara means it is the combination words of DIK and AMBARA. Ambara means vastra or Sky. It means he is the four sides of the Universe and he is the all and he is SARVAANTHARYAAMI. SHREEPAADA means he is having Subhas in his paadas. VALLABHA means Yoga is all for him and yoga is his Shakti. This is the great powerful mantra of Lord Dattatreya which was given by Shree Vasudevananda saraswathy swamy (Tembe swamy)Maharaj. Whoever comes to him and

asks for any remedy for any problem of their lives, he used to give this mantra and by recitation of the mantra, their desires were fulfilled. Even today also, so many devotees in the Dattakshetraas are reciting the same and getting free from all the problems of their lives. 3.Don’t be in hurry: In the process of recitation, we have to feel in the mantra. So…recite ones…feel, feel, and feel. Try to observe the silence between the gap from one recitation to the other. Don’t be hurry in recitation of the mantra. Just sit in a relaxed moment for atleast 10 minutes and start the process of recitation. Try to concentrate on the words of the Mantra. U will feel with some vibrations in your body. 4. SAMSHAYAATHMA VINASHYATHI: Please don’t do the sadhana with any doubt. Some persons are in thoughts that, whether the mantra will give results or whether our problems will be solved or not. As Lord Krishna told, “Samshayaatma Vinashyathi” means wherever there is a doubt, then it is a starting point for Naashana. So, have the positive thoughts and do Mantra sadhana. 5. SEEN-SEIER: This body is yours but you are not the body. Body is Drishyam means it is seen. You are the “drik” means u are the seier. You are not the mind but the mind is yours. For getting easy understanding, suppose if u wear a dress, we can say that, the dress is yours but you are not the dress. The identity that I am is an illusion and the identity itself is an illusion. 6. CHILD OF LORD: We are all the children of the Lord. Even in performing one of the Shodasha samskaaras, JAATHAKARMA, the parents will offer honey with their gold ring and touch it to the toungue of the new born kid. The mantra at that time the priests will chant is ‘VEDOSI-ASMAABHAVA’ (U are the child of Lord). So, try to develop this sort of opinion in our minds that we and the others are also the children of Lord, then there is no scope for jealousy or no scope for any worries. We are limiting ourselves with our boundaries. Lord is limitless and his glory is limitless. Try to practice and try to live with the feeling that “God’s territory is my boundary”. 7. SHADOW WILL BLESS THE OTHERS: If we follow CHITTAM MANTRAHA, VISHAM THYAJETH, ASHTA PUSHPAM and DO GOOD(already explained in the previous message) then Aatma Gnana (GNANA SAGARA DATTATREYA) will be enlightened

and then, it is not necessary to bless others by yourself but even your SHADOW will bless the others and you will remain yourself even you are in BHOGA or you are in YOGA and your heart will be sanctified/purified and then u are able to see the PRATHYAKSHA DARSHAN OF LORD in your heart and in others and everywhere at any moment. Lord Dattatreya is mainly connected to Gnana. He is gnana swaroopa. Other incarnations of other deities will take such avatharas for a spefic purpose and the avathara will be closed. These avatharas are only for the purpose of "DUSHTA SIKHANA AND SISHTA RAKSHANA" only. But Datta avathara is a great avathara and he turns his servants into Gnana marga by throwing the agnana of his servants. No end is there for this incarnation, he is Guru, He is Daiva

and he is All. Hence ... he is GURUDEVA DATTA!!!!!!! Recite Dattanama always and enrich your Gnana to the higher levels. HOPE U WILL HAVE THE DARSHAN OF LORD AT THE EARLIEST. AVADHOOTHA CHINTHANA SHREE GURUDEVA DATTASubrahmanyam.Bharathuladatta_gururayasmarthrugaami-dattavaibhavam
