Dattatreya taught his Avadhuta Gita to Lord Subramanya. This is a wonderful book which contains the truths and secrets of Vedanta and the experiences of Self-realization. On Dattatreya Jayanthi, get up at Brahmamuhurta and meditate. Fast and pray

throughout the day. Forget the body. Try to visit Dattatreya temple on that day and try to recite famous dattamantra "Digambara digambara Shree paada vallabha digambara" many more times. Identify yourself with the blissful Self. Study Dattatreya’s glorious works, namely, the Avadhuta Gita and the Jivanmukta Gita and the famous book "SHREE GURUCHARITRA". Worship Lord Dattatreya’s (or, your own Guru’s) form. Take wholesome resolves that you will follow the great teachings of Lord Dattatreya. You will realise the Self very soon.If possible, please perform ANNADANA at noon hours to some persons as prasada of Dattaguru. There are words of sadhaks that Dattaguru will be in more smiling moods on the day of Dattajayanthi and grant all the boons asked by his servants on that day.
