DIGAMBARA DIGAMBARA SHREE PAADA VALLABHA DIGAMBARA DIGAMABARA DIGAMABRA AVADHOOTHA CHINTHANA DIGAMBARA Shripad ShriVallabha (Sripad SriVallabha) is considered as the first avathara(incarnation) of the deity Shri Dattatreya. He was born in Pithapuram, a town in East Godavari district of state Andhra Pradesh in India. One can see the statue of Lord Dattatreya in Kukkuteshwara temple of Pithapur. It is the oldest statue of Dattaguru. This temple is famous as PAADAGAYA. It is a kshetra of one of the Ashtaadasha shakthi peetha. It is termed as PUROOHOOTHIKA PEETHAM. Backside of shivatemple, one can see the statue of Datta vigraha under oudumbar tree. He stayed most of his life in Kuravpur (Kuravapura) or Raichur

district of Karnataka. This year Shripada vallabha jayanthi is falling on tomorrow i.e., 27.08.2006 (Sunday). Please read Shree gurucharitra on this day and chant datta stotras like datta stava, datta karunashtaka and other stotras written by shreevasudevanand saraswathy swamy. Especially Dattaguru will give boons easily to his devotees who prayed him on this day. Try to perform Rudrabhisheka to Dattamaharaj on tomorrow. Special devotional programmes are arranged in all the Datta kshetras and special puja programmes are performing on this day. The story of Shreepada vallbha can seen in Shreegurucharitra. I am just giving a small story of Vallabhesha vruthantha for the recollection of our members. Vallabhesh Brahmin Story This story happened just after the avatar-samapti (end of avatara) of Shri Shripadji. It seems this Vallabhesh brahmin was doing business, and once he said that if he earns more than his usual earnings, he will

go to Kuravpur and feed 1000 Brahmins with the additional profit money. Indeed that year he made some huge profit and then decided to complete his vow. While he was approaching Kuravpur, on his way he was met with few dacoits who accompanied him in disguise to loot him. Later while travelling through, they attacked, beheaded and killed him. Shri Shripadji suddenly appeared from nowhere and killed all the dacoits. Only one was spared, who begged to Shripadji for his own life. Shripadji spared him and asked him to stick the head of Vallabhesh on his beheaded body and brought him to life. Vallabhesh Brahmin later completed his vow and became a full disciple of Shri Shripad ShriVallabh. Now this place is nearer to Makthal under Mahaboobnagar district of Andhrapradesh. It is just 8 to 10 kms to Makthal. Now, one can see the blood spots

on the big stones also. But it is sad to tell that, no pujari is there in the temple and one old lady is taking care of the temple. Dattaguru is in cave. One have to walk for atleast 3 kms to reach the temple. No accomodation/food is available at that place. Shripadji stayed here most of his life at Kuruvapur of Karnataka. It appears that this place must have been quite well habitated. The story of Vallabhesh Brahmin shows that the village must have been quite big enough to at least accommodate about 1000 Brahmins. Now (as of 2006AD) the population has reduced and there are lot many fields in between the temple and the village. The village is at one end of the island and the temple is at the other end. To reach out here you have to go to Raichur(10-12hrs journey) from Pune by train. Raichur is the only best place to get down. From Raichur (Karnataka) you have to hire a bus/rickshaw towards ATKUR (40 kms). After reaching ATKUR you have

to travel by small elliptical boats on the river Krishna to reach Kuravpur. This place very cool and silent and unaffected by the greedy Pujaris/Brahmhanas. There is also one cave where Shri Tembeswami used to sit for meditation. No accomodation/food is available at this place. 1000 yrs of tree can seen at this place. A very powerful place of Lord Dattatreya and it is famous for SADHANA/THAPASIDDHI. So many yogis/sadhus/sadhaks are coming even today for Dattaguru's darshan. Sripaad Vallabha disappeared one day in the Krishna river of Kuruvapur. Though he is physically no more, devotees ever feel His presence and grace. His divine spirit is ever manifest. The Lord is eternal. As He is the seed of the whole universe, His activities are infinite. So His purposes are infinite. In fact, He is ever in front of His devotees, granting their prayers. Yet he is invisible to all those who are blinded by the spirit of the

‘Kali’ age he has been granting the wishes of his devotees, though he is invisible to them. He can even be seen by those who are pure of heart. That village has become a Holy by His eternal presence. It is true sir. 100% confident. Special experiences are getting by the devotees even today. My special experience (already visited 3 to 4 times) during my trip to Kuruvapur will be informed in my next message. :: shree datta sharanam mama:: subrahmanyam.bharathula datta_gururaya
