Guest guest
The very minute I start to Chant, I start yawning, and yawning and sometimes I can control it by sucking in enough air/ozygen. Its really bad. What I would like to know is - are there any kriyas that work with the lungs and increasing a persons capacity to take in more air. I can't even get through the one line " Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo " without running out of air. My dad smoked cigars around me when I was little, and I was hospitalized a lot, as a kid, with pneumonia. But it seems to me, lack of 'space' inside, as the lungs can't expand enough? I am not sure that makes any sense. Breath of Fire has been suggested. Are there any others? Thank your for your help and suggestions, Sat Avtar Kaur Bothell, WA
Guest guest
Dear Sat Avtar Kaur Here's a simple exercise to expand the lungs. Bring your arms parallel to the floor straight out to the side. Then bring your forearms up at a 90 degree angle. Make fists. Bring your elbows and forearms toward each other without hitting each other, with the exhale, and open the arms out with the inhale. Go rapidly. Yawning is not about boredom, it is a way the body realigns itself. Have you noticed how when one person yawns others start yawning as well. Boredom isn't contagious, so it is for another reason we yawn. It is an adjustment and re-calibration to each other. So I think it is a good sign you are yawning. Guest guest
Dear Sat Avtar Kaur, I often find myself yawning while chanting or just meditating at the point that I shift from one Guru to the next, or consciousness of one aspect of being to the next. It feels like a stretch, and yawning is a way of stretching the breath, stretching Guru awareness, Pawan Guru.
