Hi Everyone,

I just joined yesterday, so I will read the files section soon and start

working the archives, but this one caught my eye. I had a root canal maybe

two years ago. I didn't go with the porcelain base but the metal, (nickel,

gold, etc...) I thought I remembered that it doesn't have silver or mercury.

Are these just as bad as amalgam fillings??

I am in Huntington Beach, CA, is there a holistic dentist near me I could

ask?

If I recall correctly Holistic Dentists don't believe in root canals,

correct?

They recommend pulling the whole tooth.?

Melony,

Where is your daughter located? Perhaps we can give her an approriate

referral.

save the tooth but it required a root canal. Some time later I noticed the

tooth was discolouring and took her to a different dentist. Apparently the

original work was done with silver amalgam (sp?) rather than white and it

was this that was causing the discolouring. The dentist took the old

filling out and inserted a bleaching product, which was left in for a week

or so and then the tooth was re-filled. Recently she mentioned the tooth is

starting to discolour again (she's nearly 20 and away from home now).

make the enamel more resistant to stain.
