Dear devotees,

I am planning on starting Sundarakanda parayana soon. I want to get some inputs

from people like. I would like to know the vidhanam of doing this parayanam.

Any matter on this subject will be of immense help.

Three kinds of Paaraayanam are recognized:

1. Nitya paaraayanam:

As many sargas as possible each day. No number restriction,

but don't stop in the middle of a sarga. There are 68 sargams in

Sundarakhandam, so a maximum of 68 days!

2. Saptasargi Paarayanam: Seven sargas per day for 9 days,

and on the 8 th day last 5 sargas plus the first two sargas (repeat) .

3. ShoDashaaha Paaraayanam: Number of sargas per day as noted in order

to complete in 16 days: 2-4-4-4-8-1-8-1-5-5-7-6-1-6-2-4

Preamble: Following shlokas:

1. Lakshminaatha samarambhaam......paramparaam

2. yo nityamachyuta...prapadye

3. maataa pitaa.......mUrdhnA

4. BhUtam sarashcha....nityam

5. pitaamahasyaapi ...namastaat

Stotrams on your Acharyan, Srimannarayana,

and other stotrams that you fancy.

a. Shuklaambharadharam.....shaanthaye

b. Yasyadvirad......upaasmahe

c. gnaanaanada mayam......upaasmahe.

kUjantam raama raameti...

START PAARAAYANAM

Shlokams at the end of Paarayanam. There are 17 of them.

I can send you these if you like, but

You may want to refer to Sundarasimham E-book series

headed by Sriman Sadagopan to see whether they have

info on Sundarakhanda paarayanam.

I really appreciate your responses on this. I just

took a look at the below link:

http://www.ahobilavalli.org/sundara_kandam.pdf

Is this what you would recommend me to read?

I found the 68 sargas on www.hindunet.org and

http://www.valmikiramayan.net/ but I found that some

of the sargas have different slokas on each of these

websites. It'd be great if you can direct me to an

authentic source of sargas on the net.

I also have a conversion of Sundarakanda written by

one of the sages in South India in telugu. It doesn't

have any sargas in it. Is it recommended to recite

that book instead of going over the sanskrit sargas?

Sincerely,

Kalyan RD
