Dear sri vaishNava

perunthagaiyeer,

Before taking up the next naama, let us finalise the

answer to the question on that phala manjari raagam krithi which led to the

naama – sanaathanaaya namah. I was waiting for some clues or reactions from the

elit readers. Sinc that is not forthcoming – I myself give the answer.

Yes – this krithi is linked to that samudhra raajan

episode - it is raama himself who got a bunch of fruits by getting angry with

samudhra raajan. In that samudhra raajan also got a bunch of fruits. So it

became a mutual beneficial one to both – raama and as well samudhra raajan.

To raama what are the fruits – as already stated in post

20 –

Raama

was assured by samudhra raajan that he will bear that bridge [or in other

words Raama got green signal to build a bridge on the ocean].Ocean king identified a person to do that job in

naLan – nalan also remembered [then only] that he was a capable one, as

identified by the ocean king – like how hanumaan was told about his powers

by jaambavaan in that ocean shores [kishkindhaa kaaNdam 66th

sargam].Samudhra raajan also assured raama by giving the

order to crocodiles, that crocodiles will not disturb the vaanaraas while

they cross the ocean through the bridge to go to lanka.Once bridge was completed raama was consecrated with

holy waters on the lankan shores by sidhdhhaas and chaaraNaas and

maharishis with holy waters and they blessed him to rule the world

eternally – this is what lead thyaagaraaja to say sanaathanaa, raama – [we

will see what vaalmeeki says also].

This is what vaalmeeki has to say

on above points --

Point1 and 2:

ayam

soumya naLO naama thanujO visva karmaNah |

pithraa

dhaththa varah sreemaan

prathimo visva

karmaNah || 6-22-44

Esha sEthum maha outsaahah karOthu mayi vaanarah |

tham aham dhaarayishyaami thathhaa hi Esha yathaa pithaa

|| 6-22-45

meaning:

samudhra raajan to raama, "O, excellent man! This one, named NaLa, a glorious

person, is the son of Visvakarmaa; who was given a boon by his father and is equal

to Visvakarmaa.

Let this greatly energetic monkey [pointing to NaLa] build a bridge across me.

I can hold that bridge. He is just the same as his father."

On

point 3 – about crocodiles –

vidhaasyE

yena ganthaasi vishahishyE hi aham thathaa |

na

graahaa vidhamishyanthi yaavathsEnaa tharishyathi || 6-22-28

hareeNaam

tharaNE raama karishyaami yathhaasthhalam |

meaning:

samudhra raajan to raama "O, Raama! I shall make it possible to see that you

are able to cross over. I will arrange a place for the monkeys to cross me and

bear with it. As far as the army crosses me, the crocodiles will not be

aggressive to them".

The consecration slokams are

jayasva sathroon nara

dhEva mEdhineem |

sasaagaraam paalaya saasvatheeh samaah |

ithi iva raamam nara dhEva

sathkritham |

subhair vachObhir vividhair apoojayan ||

6-22-87

meaning: The celestials,

Sidhdhaas and others exalted Raama, who was duly respected by kings with their

auspicious words as follows: "O, king! Defeat the enemies. Rule the earth and

ocean eternally for years."

See what vaalmeeki says – 'subhair vachObhir

vividhair apoojayan' – the maharshis sidhdhaas and chaaraNaas said subhai

vachObhih – said mangaLa vaachakam – aaseer vachanam – words of blessing or

vividhaih apoojayan – in different method did poojaa to the lord – that is what

thyaagaraaja also says – sanaathanaa – parama pavanaa.

These people also blessed raama

with 'mEdhineem sasaagaraam paalaya saasvatheeh samaah|' – rule the world

eternally. And that led thyaagaraja to add that 'sanaathanaa'. 'saasvatheeh samaah' means eternally ref

Monier Williams dictionary. This in other words is sanaathanaa.
