Shri:

Dear All Bhagavatha Bandhus

Adiyaen's pranaams.

Adiyaen wanted to know if mercy killing is allowed in sampradaayam.

Toronto Hospital has a norm where they put the heart to rest

for those patients ., who are extremely suffering based on

acceptance / approval from their Guardian/Relatives. or those

who have no one to support.

What is our sampradaayam saying ?

Do we have to go through all the pain.

Kanchi Perumal 's Saying : " Dehaa Vaasaney Muktis yaat "

Is mercy killing approved as per our sampradaayam. ?

Please advise.

Dear Sriman Sundararajan :

" Mercy Killing " is totally prohibited in our

Saastrams . It is a terrible thing to suffer

Pain and it is traumatic for the Patient

Mercy Killing is not sanctioned .

Dear Swamins,

We have instances in our scriptures, where people have

willingly left their material body as well as where the

pain duration is reduced by hastening death.

In Ramayana, when Dasharatha mistakenly killed a muni putran,

his blind parents, who had none else left to care for,

willingly joined the pyre.

We also read instances (for example Vali), where an arrow stuck in the body is

removed by another person, upon request by the ailing individual,

to hasten death.

Of course, the third type (which is not generally applicable)

is where the Lord kills someone as lost resort to put an end

to miserable life of that person.

Dear Divya Desham Asthikas

Killing of any thing - be it an animal/insect/bird or human being - either mercifully or deliberately is not acceptable to any one at any point of time for whatever be the reason at any place.

Whilst the debate is on about 'Mercy Killing' I attach herebelow a

clipping of the transformation of an egg into a chicken which I would

like to share for the reason that most people knowingly or

unknowingly are passive eaters of animals as I am given to understand

that egg /yoke is an essential ingredient in the preparation of of

all types of cakes and pastries which most vaishnavites I know drool

over and eat cakes and other types of pastries. Any one can surmise the amount of pain the egg/chicken is made to undergo during its culling/killing for any reason to fill the insatiable appetite of human monsters.

I humbly request all vaishnavites to desist/resist from eating cakes or

any pastry either on the count of mercy killing of an innocent

animal or due to religious and traditional sentiments and which our

shastras do not permit as egg/yoke is an essential ingredient in the

preparation of cake or any form pastry.

EGG IS VEG OR NON-VEG ?

Dear Swamins,

Most hen eggs sold in the market are of the unfertilized kind.

An unfertilized egg has everything what a fertilized egg has- white, yolk, shell

and embryo- except that the embryo is unfertilized.

My feeling is cakes, pastries and ice cream are made

using unfertilized eggs.

Dear Swamin

adiyane's pranaams.

Aathma hathi is prohibited. as per Dr V.sadagopan Swamin

Can any one give complimentary sentences as per our

Ramanuja Sampradaayam to approce Sree Krishna Swamins email.

At the same time.., if a body is suffering due to extreme pain.. is

it not fair on a humanitaian ground to lay the body to rest.

Please make my decision clear.

I have even opted for a Z9 donar to OHIP (- Medical Insurance)

(any of my body spare parts can be reused for medical research , for

implanting to others)

NARAYANA! NARAYANA!

IF ACCORDING TO OUR SCRIPTURES SUFFERING AND PAIN IS THE PRICE OF OUR MISDEEEDS, PAST AND PRESENT, TO BE UNDERGONE, THEN MERCY KILLING WOULD APPEAR TO NEGATE THE CONCEPT, AND IN TERMS OUR SCRIPTURAL EXPLANATION, SUBJECT THE INDIVIDUAL FOR FURTHER BIRTHS TO DISCHARGE THE BURDEN OF HIS SINS.

Dear Swamin,

If you get headache or toothache, you don't take any medication?

What is the use of Ayurvedam, if every pain/suffering is prayaschittam

for poorva karmams?

Obviously, there is no place for such shastras in the modern world!

Not one verse in the Bhagavadgita says don't donate organs; BG only

condemns people who take severe penance, torturing themselves

for personal gain. Besides BG (minus bhashyams), do we need any

other shastram in this day and age?

SrI:

Dear Moderator :

Let us focus on the main theme of

Divya desam web site to its central mission:

Information related to the divya dEsams

and stay clear of medical ethics and

Comments on Saastrams etc . There

are plenty of sites relating to them .

That in my humble opinion where these

questions should be raised and answered.

So,e filters need to be placed .

As a moderator of Oppiliappan , Malolan ,

Raama Bhakti and SaraNAgathy lists ,

I have also been experiencing

this problem . I am planning to

restate the mission statement

to have postings and discussions

related to the main goals of the lists

that I am responsible for . Mail to individuals

and among members should be fine on

controversial topics but the group members

can be spared from these unnecessary diversions .

dear sirhow many times should we highlight the fact that this site is meant only for religious facts, commenteries / festivals etc. Inspite of repeated requests a few members keep on interrupting the site with weird facts that are not our concern. hope the moderator will in all earnestness block such mails RAJARAMAN--- On Mon, 14/7/08, Dr.V.Sadagopan <yennappan wrote:Dr.V.Sadagopan <yennappanRe: Re: Mercy killing

SrI:

Dear Moderator :

Let us focus on the main theme of

Divya desam web site to its central mission:

Information related to the divya dEsams

and stay clear of medical ethics and

Comments on Saastrams etc . There

are plenty of sites relating to them .

That in my humble opinion where these

questions should be raised and answered.

So,e filters need to be placed .

As a moderator of Oppiliappan , Malolan ,

Raama Bhakti and SaraNAgathy lists ,

I have also been experiencing

this problem . I am planning to

restate the mission statement

to have postings and discussions

related to the main goals of the lists

that I am responsible for . Mail to individuals

and among members should be fine on

controversial topics but the group members

can be spared from these unnecessary diversions .

>>>There is no place for MODERN INTERPRETATION as for as SAASTRAS is concerned dhasan, N.PADMANABAN<<
