Hare Krishna,

I would like to throw an enlightening point on this.

As mentioned by one of the member that instead of constructing 4 temples worth of 100 crores each,

why not build 40,000 temples of 1 lac each.

We have to see this in different angles.

1) Crowd attracts to the temple if temple is built with huge attractions depicting the pastimes of the Lord, and

maintaining of proper deity worship, distributing prasadam nicely.

2) When the crowd gets attracted to the temple then we get a preaching opportunity and we can discuss the subject

matter of science of the LORD with those people and develop a kind of sincerity in them. In this way we can spread

the science of GOD.

3) Another view is for our sake we are constructing many apartments, skyscrapers, big buildings etc to enjoy happily,

then why not for Lord? Indeed He is the supplier of ingredients for all of us. We should build opulent palaces for Lord.

Say for example you construct a small temple crowd won't much get attracted to that. This is 100% fact.

There is no second thought. Rather if you build opulent palace to the Lord, people will come all over the corners to

see this wonderful palace and deity in the temple.

In this way we are giving an opportunity to more & more people to have the darshan of the deity.

This is very important point.

Any views or discussions on this are welcome. Let us all be open-minded. This is my sincere and humble request.

A number of Temples of all Hindu beliefs are longing for patronage throughout India. This includes a sizable number of Divyadesams dating back to several thousands of years. These temples and divyadesams are spread over Tamilnadu. Instead of constructing multi storied complexes in the name of Temples and benefitting vested interests, it is better if a small fraction of those funds is spent on each of those ancient divyadesams and temples and revitalise thier activities. A very big region, can be covered. Hitherto neglected places will get boost of tourism, development and advancement in the environment and a minimum period of time only is needed. What these neglected temples and divyadesams need is not big money. They need just minor repairs, painting, sign Boards, good approach, committed staff, well maintained gardens etc. All these do not cost fortunes and more than that time and constant monitoring or Big Projects monitoring cost which

normally is 20% of the total cost can be saved. Perhaps these overheads are sufficient to protect thousands of temples S RAJAGOPALAN

Sir,

You have made valid points.

My only addition would be the metro temples should also have

some additional structures like community center for

performances and classes (music, dance, religious education etc.),

and these structures can be rented out and provide resources fo rthe

temple so that they will be fully self-supportive.

With regard to TTD's plans to build temples at various centres, my suggestion is that TTD which is flush with funds can donate some funds to those 'DIVYA DESAMS' (sung my Alwars) which are in a dilapidated condition. After all, Tirumala is also one of the 108 Divya Desames and it would be in the fitness of things, if other Divya Desams are also made prosperous with generous contributrion by TTD.

>>Government Money and not that of Lord's<<

TTD is under Govt, but Govt is not under TTD.

TTD money is not Hindu money, it is public money, because

Hindu temples and organizations are under secular Govt control.

This is not true for Christian or Muslim institution.

You may go to Thirupathi in a bus driven by a Communist,

Naxalite, Hindu, Muslim, Christian or whoever- that is not the issue.

The issue is, in our country, any of these (Hindu,

Naxalite, communist, atheist, Christian, Muslim, Parse, Jain,

Buddhist etc) can also control TTD administration completely-

as long as they are democratically elected-because TTD is under

the mercy of secular Govt.

Please wake up and smell the reality.

No point bitching without understanding ground reality.

This is the reality we embraced in 1947.

If Govt is building temples for some vested interest for contractors to

make money

or Hindu appeasement- so what? That is what Govt does.

There is always an agenda for whatever Govt does.
