Myanmar Monks Take to Streets in Protest of Government

Dear SAMVA members,

 

Protests against the military regime of Myanmar(formerly Burma) have

continued to escalate with Buddhist monks announcing today their

withdrawal of " spiritual services from all military personnel in a

symbolic move that is seen as very powerful in such a deeply religious

country as Burma " (Source: Wikipedia).

 

Buddhist monks were allowed to march past police barricades to the

home of detained Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, the

National League for Democracy (NLD) leader, on Saturday as street

protests intensified against the ruling military junta.

THE RELIGIOUS INFLUENCE:

 

In transit Jupiter, representing the spiritual community is upon the

Most Effective Point (MEP) of the the 3rd house. As 4th lord, Jupiter

represents peace, general and political stability and communal

harmony. The 3rd house signifies communications; particularly those

governing initiatives for democracy and peace talks.

 

Transit Jupiter aspects the 7H MEP which represents cabinet and

internal affairs as well as the bond of relationships amongst the

masses. This why the people of Myanmar are rallying behind the

Buddhist monks in such large numbers.

 

Jupiter aspects the 9th house governing morality, religion,

progress and development; all factors which the populace seeks to improve.

 

This all comes during the FB L4 Jupiter subperiod. Natally, the FM

L12 Sun is exactly afflicting the lagna lord Mercury in Jupiter's 4th

house. Accordingly, during this subperiod of Jupiter, this affliction

is " active " .

 

The Sun is the dispositor for the MMP L8 Mars who is violent by nature

thus bringing a more even more militant component to the 12th house

significations.

 

Thus, the connection of the FM L12 Sun with the L1 Mercury in the 4H

indicates the loss of communal harmony, political instability and an

impoverished populace.

 

 

TENSIONS BUILDING:

 

The protests and demonstrations are due to transit FM L6 Saturn being

badly placed in the 12H conjunct Ketu and afflicted by the nodal axis.

 

The 6H represents public amity, or lack thereof in this case, while

the 12H signifies mishaps and " wars " . Ketu leads to violent

actions and events and combined with the L6 Saturn signifying violence

and aggression.

 

In one months time, this affliction between Ketu and Saturn

becomes exact and remains so until the end of October.

 

The L8 MMP Mars will be applying towards the MEP of the 10H through

the end of October indicating military-type action by the

government (10th house) against the country (aspect to 1st house)

disrupting communal harmony and peace (4th house) and the population

at large (5th house).

 

In early November, while the Saturn/Ketu aspect is separating though

still within two degrees, the FM L12 Sun will be debilitated and upon

the MEP of the 2H thereby afflicting it and the 8th house. At the

same time, transit Mars' affliction to the 10th will have become exact

upon the MEPs of the 10th, 1st, 4th and 5th houses.

 

CONCLUSIONS:

 

It appears that the initiatives for better government will lead to

increasing tensions and possibly to demonstrations that turn violent

due to aggressive military reaction sometime between mid-October and

early November after which time the tension will cool.

Some interesting general obervations:

 

The THREE malefics for Myanmar:

 

Sun = signifies government which has been para-military and an

oppressive force that has impoverished the nation connecting is

malificence of the 12H with the L1 in the 4H and showing the loss of

wealth, peace and resources. After a parliamentary government was

formed in 1948, Prime Minister U Nu attempted to make Burma a welfare

state.

 

Saturn = Civil servants, low tech, industry and mines. The

International Labor Organization is seeking charges against Myanmar

over the continuous forced labour of its citizens by the military at

the International Court of Justice. Note that Saturn is in the 11H of

gains. Therefore, the government has abused public labor for their

own benefit.

 

Mars = Army and police and the nation has been highly oppressed by a

para-military regines for decades.

 

Lucrative industries of gems (8H), oil (8H/Saturn) and forestry(4H)

remain heavily regulated. They have recently been exploited by foreign

corporations and governments which have partnered with the local

government (FM L12 Sun) to gain access to Myanmar's natural resources.

 

It is also interesting to note that the country is the worlds 2nd

largest producer of opium (12H vices/drugs), accounting for 8% of GDP,

and is a major supplier of illegal drugs. Amphetamines (speed) is a

major export and note how Mars, the planet of energy, is upon the MEP

of the 12H linking its significations with the 12H vices.

 

In looking at Venus exclusively, one would be led to think that as the

L2 signifying national wealth and world position and placed in the 5H

in full strength then why is the nation NOT wealthy? After all, its

the strongest planet in the chart; Mercury is combusted and exactly

afflicted by the FM L12 Sun and is positioned in a MEP-afflicted

house, Jupiter is debilitated in Navamsha, Saturn is in old age, Mars

is badly placed in the 12H and has a weak dispositor and the Moon has

a weak dispositor.

 

The reason Myanmar is NOT wealthy is that the entire chart is

destroyed by the lagna lord Mercury being BOTH weak AND afflicted so

closely by the FM L12 Sun while being combusted and in a MEP-afflicted

house. Thus everything else is brought to a much lower level

including even the benefits of its otherwise well-placed and strong FB

L2 Venus.

 

Starting in about one year, September 2008, Myanmar will begin its

Mercury dasa. Though strict SA techniques indicate the predominance

of the subperiods, we can infer that this dasa even of a functional

benefic will bring focus to the aforementioned severe affliction of

the Sun. Thus, a greater level of communal disharmony, worst

political upheavals and a deterioration of economic conditions will

prevail. This may result in the drug trade becoming an even greater

component of export as a means to compensate for legitimate commerce.

The possible of even more strict police-state type controls exists.
