The proposed chart looks like a good fit indeed. Kevin Rudd, the new Prime Minister of Australia very likely has 6° 35' Leo rising. Leo's are described on http://www.yournetastrologer.com as LEO It is a fiery sign ruled by the Sun, the significator of vitality, intelligence, male progeny, social status and magnificence. These factors render the Leos noble hearts, with character and will power. If Leo rises as the ascendant, the Ishta Devata (form of god for worshipping and meditation) would be mother divine, Goddess Durga. This sign rules upper belly, stomach, spine, spinal cord, back, liver, gall bladder, spleen and pancreas. If the Sun is strong, the Leos enjoy good health. Otherwise, they are vulnerable to the diseases of heart, spine, back, bones, spleen, pancreas, liver, stomach, weak digestion, fevers, etc., and lack stamina and will power. L12 Moon is well placed in its own MT sign of Cancer H12. It is unafflicted and unafflicting. There are two afflictions in the chart. i) Ketu closely afflicts L2 Mercury in Leo H1. This affliction seems to be the natal basis of the tragedies experienced with bereavement of family members in the life. When his father was killed, transit Rahu was stationary conjunct H2 MEP. ii) Rahu is conjunct L3 Venus in Libra H3. Interestingly, as Rudd has L3 Venus placed in Librah H3, he should be full of initiative and interested in having his own way. As Venus at 14° Libra is conjunct Rahu at 18° Libra, his influence should increase as he approaches the middle part of his life. It helps to avert damage from this affliction that Venus is quite strong in the chart. However, there will likely plenty of challenges to his political programme. The peak times could be in the second half of 2010. In July 2010, during the Mo/Ve period, transit Ketu will stationary aspect his natal Rahu and in October 2010, transit Venus will become stationary on natal Rahu. L1 Sun and L9 Mars are closely conjunct on H2 MEP giving a big boost to self effort and luck with regard to family, wealth and status. L5 Jupiter is well placed and strong at 15° Virgo H2. From December 2008 to March 2009, transit Rahu at 15° Capricorn H6 will aspect his natal Jupiter, suggesting opposition to or crisis involving his management status. L7 Saturn is strong and well placed in Scorpio H4, while aspecting L2 Mercury in Leo H1, gives a good wife that reflects well on him and his family. Close aspect of Ketu in Aries H9 to L2 Mercury in Leo H1 gives some need to deliberate before making a decision. There could also be sudden setbacks to family. Presently, the Mo/Me period is operating. Transit L9 Mars at 16° Gemini H11 is aspecting natal L5 Jupiter in Virgo H2, indicating luck with respect to management status. Transit L7 Saturn stationary at 14° 30' Leo H1 is aspecting natal L3 Venus in Libra H3 for the coming two months, giving good support for his political programme - also known as a 'honeymoon period´ in politics. Sub-period lord transit L2 Mercury entered Scorpio H4 on election day and is giving him a good deal of satisfaction, especially as it becomes conjunct natal Saturn. Other top politicians have Sun in 12^th house eg Blair, Bush, Brown What would be a reason for a luminary (mainly Su) in 12^th house for a national leader?
