We have the honour of having Sanjay Rath, the renowned Vedic Astrologer from India give a 2 Day Workshop on the fundamental principles of Jyotish. He will be joined by the very brilliant Visti Larsen and myself. If you are interested in attending please note the change in time and location from the Galway University to the Westwood House Hotel on the Newcastle Road. The fee for the workshop is 200euros but please do not allow a lack of funds to stop you from participating. For those interested in this profound science this is a rare and wonderful opportunity to learn from a true master. ABOUT GALWAY and JYOTISH Since January 1991 I have had the good fortune to have the opportunity to teach Vedic Astrology to very bright and enthusiastic students here in Galway, in the west of Ireland. The request for beginners classes continues and a 3-day Introductory Course is now being run on a monthly basis. We have had Brendan Feeley, Komilla Sutton and Andrew Foss visit us as lecturers at different times and as the interest continues to grow we are looking forward to having a thriving Vedic Astrology community in this country. This is a beautiful place surrounded by the water, with the river, sea and lake all within walking distance. We have a very strong spiritual tradition that goes back long before the current popular religions and a regular feature of our landscape are the remnants of places of worship which were obviously aligned to the stars. There is a unique quality in this city that is expressed through the rich tradition of creative talent that is available here in poetry, music, song and dance. We are passionate about our sport but unfortunately we have already been beaten in the All-Ireland Hurling and Gaelic Football competitions for this year. All these Venus and Mars type activities are called "craic" (fun) and while the seriousness of Saturn may appear to overtake us with so many grey days and little sunshine, the Mercurial quality of wit and humour, the generosity of Jupiter, the compassion of the Moon and the warmth of the Sun can usually be caught in the glint in the eye, the warmth of the welcoming smile and the quiet reassurance in the greeting "Dhia Duit"(God be with you). Hopefully this will be the first of many Jyotish Conferences in Ireland where two seemingly different cultures make a spiritual connection that will enhance all our lives. With Jupiter exalted and the Kala Amrita Yoga, we can look forward to being lead by Ketu toward divine knowledge into the deeper mysteries of life.
