JAYA JAGANNATHA!

Dear Visti,

Namaste.

Not much is said by the ancients about the effects of the planets' Gochara (transit) compared to its natal position. Therefore I can just give my guess as an answer, based on my understanding of planewtary principles and on my experience.

Vyam Vysadevaya Namah

Dear list.

Theres a principle that has been on my mind, and that i would like clarification on:

In the advent of a mercury retrogade, or any retrogade for that matter, how is the natal planet affected?

i.e. I've observed that I often advance considerably during mercury retrogades, and also tend to end up in fights. Whilst studying western astrology, i was almost always thrown out of forums by the administrator, due to my behahaviour. And it always happened during mercury retrogades. This calmed down when i began meditation.

Well, I didn't find your chart in my computer, it looks like it was in the previous one. Mind sending your chart once more? We need to see what position did Mercury ocuppy in your chart and what role does he play in general. As for the above problem, please also always check the Bhinashtakavarga points of the cign where Mercury gets retrograde.

Another thing is that a retrograde Mercury does not only affect you but others on a list also, incuding the administartors. Maybe Narasimha bears these transits better than the average. It comes to my ind that once I received 1000+ emails into my mailbox on a day when Mercury just got retrograde.

So lets errect a model for the martian mind(nyaya) to follow:

Both A & B are the same planet. I'm stating planet as its only the pancha bhootas that can change state.

Planet A; is the natal planet placement/state.

Planet B; is the transit planet placement/state.

Scenarrio 1:

A is combust.

B is retrogade.

When a planet is combust, it misuses its energy.

I would form a little differently. When a planet is combust, ti's functions are restricted by a superior authority.

When planet B then moves to retrogade does this energy get nullified for the retrogade period?

The usual understanding of retrogression in transit is that the person gets an opportunity to revise or sometimes redo a few things ruled by the given planet in his chart. So sticking to the above model: During the direct transits of a planet that is combust at birth, the person will feel the restrictions imposed on it by natal combustion, in greater or lesser degree, depending on the strength of the transitting planet. But when this planet gets retrograde, the person begins realizing why he is restricted and thinks of ways to solve the problem constructively, not by mere opposition as he usually does.

Keeping in mind that more details should be predicted from Dasa's and direct contacts of planets, how does the retrogades actually affect us?

My understanding is the above. For example a retrograde planet in the birth chart may indicate that you will have rto redo a few things indicated by the planet, which you have missed or mismanaged in your previous life. Thus retro planets always point to karmic debts. But if it's retro only in transit, it may indicate smaller things that you have to rethink, connected to your recent activities. The depth of the event may depend on the nature of planet. Foir example Saturn indicates bad karma, and while transitting different natal houses, he tends to activate the negative results linked to them. Jupiter does the same, but he activates the pious karma. These are rather slowly moving planets, and get retrograde quite rarely, Thus their retrograde transit periods may activate thing of deeper significance than for example a short retrograde period of Mercury which comes regularly 3 times a year. The events activated by him are of shorter term.

I hope this helps to some extent.

Yours,

How does the theory work out in this matter?
