Regarding Argala ( Chapt 33 of BPHS).

Argala if formed when a graha is placed 4,2, or 11th from another graha or rasi.

Obstruction to Argala happens when planets reside in the 10th, 12th or 3rd from the sign or graha being evaluated.

Question:

a. If there is a graha in the 4th house, is the graha postioned in the 10th the only graha that cause obstruction to the 4th house?

YES (except for Ketu for other places. Ketu reverse the cycle.)

or can the 12th and/or 3rd also cause obstruction to the 4th? e.g. matched sets for obstruction ( houses 4:10, 2:12, and 11:3)

No

b. If ANY of the 3 ( 10th , 12th or 3rd) cause obstruction to the 4th, does the obstruction increase ( in severity) as more rasi's are part of the obstruction e.g. the 10th = X% obstruction; 10th + 12th rasi = Y% obstruction; 10th+12+3rd rasi = Z% obstruction?

c. Is Argala applicable to all varga charts?

A rider that I read in this chapter: Obstruction can only caused by 2 conditions:

> First: the argala producing planet resides in the first Chaturthamsha ( 1/4th) of the rasi and the obstructer resides in the last 1/4th of the rasi.

> Second: The argala producing graha resides in the 2nd quarter of the rasi ( between 7degees 30 min and 15 degrees) and the obstructing graha resides in the 3rd quarter of the rasi.

Question:

a. therefore, all other positions of the argala forming graha does not have any obstruction, correct?

For now, better use FULL aspect or EFECT.

Regarding Vipreeta Argala ( VA)

VA manifests if there's 3 or more malefic planets in the 3rd rasi from any graha...and has no obstructing house.

IF Rahu and Ketu apply, is there a reason that the Upagrahas would then NOT apply or are not mentioned? Comments?

b. Does VA apply in all varga charts? i.e. is it applicable?
