Here is one more belated attempt, now at Lesson #14

 

Excercise 1. Find arudha padas of all the 12 houses in Chart 2

 

AL House 1 is in Vrishabha, and Shukra is in the same house. Therefore Arudha

Lagna is in 10th house in Kumbha.

A2 House 2 is in Mithuna, and Buddha is in 8th house, 7th from the

second. Therefore we arrive back in the 2nd house and have to add

another 10 signs. Doing thus we arrive in the 11th house in Meena

A3 Third house is in Karka, and Chandra is in 10th, so the Arudha is

in the 5th house in Kanya

A4 4th house is in Simha, and Surya is in 10th, so counting 7 signs

twice we come back to the 4th. Counting another 10 signs we arrive

at the first house in Vrishabha

A5 5th house is in Kanya, and Buddha is in Dhanu. Counting 4

signs twice we arrive in 11th which is 7th from 5th. Thus we have

to count another 10 signs from there we arrive at 8th in Dhanu.

A6 6th house is in Tula, and Shukra is in 1st. Therefore A6 is in

the 8th house in Dhanu

A7 7th is in Vrischika, and Mangal is stronger than Ketu. Mangal is

in 10th, therefore we arrive in 1st, which is 7th from the 7th,

and have to count 10 signs, arriving in 10th, which is in Kumbha

A8 8th is in Dhanu, and Guru is in 9th, therefore A8 is in 10th, in

Kumbha

A9 9th is in Makara, and Shani is in 12th, so counting 4 signs twice

we arrive in 3rd, which is 7th from 9th. Thus we have to count

another 10 signs and arrive in 12th in Meesha

A10 10th is in Kumbha, and Rahu is stronger than Shani, placed in 3rd.

Counting 6 signs twice we arrive in 8th in Dhanu

A11 11th is in Meena, and Guru is in 9th, so A11 is in 7th in

Vrischika

UL 12th is in Meesha, and Mangal is in 10th so UL is in 8th house in

Dhanu.

 

EXERCISE 2

 

(1) Learning

Learning is an internal matter and is a characteristic of the person,

and not the perception of the world about it.

(2) Academic degrees

Academic degrees are the scores, which the world assigns to measure

how " learned " the person is, so this is Arudha

(3) Devotion

Devotion also is an internal matter

(4) Reciting mantras

Reciting mantras is material expression of devotion and belongs to

Arudhas (hence teh name Mantra pada for A5)

(5) Feeling sick

Feeling sick is an internal matter and cannot be measured

(6) Being sick and getting treated

Being sick is the perseption of the world of a sick person so this is

an Arudha

(7) Boldness

Courage is an internal characteristic and cannot be measured.

(8) Weapons

Using weapons is a material expression and belongs to Arudhas

(9) Luck

Luck is an internal characteristic and canot be measured

(10) Trappings of fortune

This is a way we perceive the world and is an internal characteristic

(11) Judgment and discretion

Judgement and discretion is the way we perceive the world so it is an

internal characteristic of the person

(12) Reputation

Reputation is a way world judges us so this should belong to Arudhas

(13) Followers

Followers is the material expression, how the world percieves us so it

belongs to Arudhas

(14) Bank balance

This is the material expression by which the world measures wealth so

it belongs to Arudhas.
