हरे राम कृष्ण॥

Dear Narasimha, Namaskar

I'm reading your joint paper with Sanjayji on Kala Chakra Dasa from

Kartika Purnima 2004.

In it you have explained an excellent formation of dasa and antara for

the Kala Chakra Dasa.

However, in the current version of JHora the 'nakshatra

iteration method - Rath and Rao conference' - doesn't correlate

with the calculations given in the paper!

Example: Uttara Phalguni 3rd Pada. This is an apasavya nakshatra

(asvinadi scheme) and belongs to the third group of apasavya nakshatra

namely Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Sagittarius as per the paper.

As its the third pada it should start with Capricorn. This also

corresponds with the kalachakra navamsa (which it should).

BUT! This is what i get from JHORA:

Kalachakra Dasa (Chandra, Apasavya group, Paramayush = 85 years):

Maha Dasas:

Mith (Dhan2): 1978-05-15 (13:33:12) - 1987-05-15 (20:42:32)

Simh (Dhan1): 1987-05-15 (20:42:32) - 1992-05-15 (3:35:16)

Kark (Srav4): 1992-05-15 (3:35:16) - 2013-05-15 (12:52:43)

Kanya (Srav3): 2013-05-15 (12:52:43) - 2022-05-15 (20:01:27)

Tula (Srav2): 2022-05-15 (20:01:27) - 2038-05-15 (22:33:58)

Vrisch (Srav1): 2038-05-15 (22:33:58) - 2045-05-15 (17:39:26)

Meen (USha4): 2045-05-15 (17:39:26) - 2055-05-16 (7:07:16)

Kumbh (USha3): 2055-05-16 (7:07:16) - 2059-05-16 (7:39:15)

Makar (USha2): 2059-05-16 (7:39:15) - 2063-05-16 (8:24:53)

What happened? What do i do now? Have you made a new paper with new

calculation methods?

Yours sincerely,

Dear Visti, You resent the mail the other day. I did see your email, but wanted to look at the code to reply. I haven't got a chance yet. When I get a chance to look at the code, I will reply. I may have introduced a bug when I added another method. Namaste Visti,

I am putting together the next JHora release and took a look at your complaint (see below) finally. There is no error. JHora does what is described in the joint paper by Sanjay ji and me from Karthika Pournima of 2004.

Please re-read the paper. The table for apasavya nakshatras on the last page clearly gives the following dasa cycle for Uttara Phalguni 3rd pada:

Dhan 2 (Ge), Dhan 1 (Le), Srav 4 (Cn), Srav 3 (Vi), Srav 2 (Li), Srav 1 (Sc), USha 4 (Pi), USha 3 (Aq), USha 2 (Cp).

This is exactly what JHora gives if you select "Nakshatra Pada Iteration Method (Rao & Rath at SJC Conference)".

Uttara Phalguni is an apasavya nakshatra and 3rd pada falls in Cp Kalachakra navamsa as you said. However, dasas do not start from that sign (Cp) itself. For each sign, there is a deha and jeeva and dasas start from jeeva and end in deha for apasavya nakshatras. For an apasavya nakshatra pada in Cp, jeeva and deha are Ge and Cp.

Dasa cycle in this method are found based on the nine navamsas within that sign. Cp contains padas from USha 2 to Dhan 2. Because it is an apasavya nakshatra, we go in reverse from Dhan 2 to Usha 2. We get the sequence given above. That is what the table explicitly mentions and that what JHora does.
