Guest guest
|OM GURAVE NAMAH| Dear Learned members, I came across the terms Musaripha and Muthasila in Prasna tantra. I would really appreciate it if someone could explain the terms to me. Regards Supriti
Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna, Dear Supriti, Namaskar! Prashna Tantra is a treatise dated from the late middle Ages, a relatively late compedium of existing astrological practice.(At the time) Muthasila (yoga) is another term for Ithasala yoga and Musharif (Yoga) is another term for Ishraf yoga. These two terms indicate either applying or separating aspects. This is chiefly used in a. Tajaka annual charts (or monthly) b. Prashna c. (occasionally) in Muhurta It is generally thought to be of the influence of Muslim astrologers. ( I have my doubts on this) However, what is not well kown that the first documentary evidence of these yogas are in the Monumental WORK of "Piccatrix", the brilliant astrologer of the court of King Alphonso, of Spain (1221-1284). He is also known as "Alphonso the Wise". In this work (which was written some 800 years ago and fully preserved), there are descriptions of the Nakshatras, Tithis, various Yogas, and many other incredibly interesting matters-with DUE credit given to the "Indians". (It clearly mentions "Indian system".) Doctrines of the Upanishads and even Buddhist doctrines are discussed by Piccatrix. EXTENSIVELY!Where? in Europe. 800 years ago. With a lot of respect. This monumental classic has been the staple (bible) of European astrologers, where copies (handwritten) could be found in every major (and even minor) European Monasteries. This manuscript is still available in some libraries, for instance in the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica ( a private Library in Amsterdam,Netherlands). I have been an (unpaid) researcher in this Manuscript Library for a few months (some years ago). Since I have a decent working knowledge of medieval Latin, Ancient Greek and Hebrew (I both read and write), the curator of the Library asked me to help them with the manuscript collections. What I have found astonished me. The European Adepts practiced Sidereal Astrology. They have called the Tropical system the "Astrology of the Vulgar" while the sidereal Astrology was called the "Astrology of the Wise". The Ayanamsha used was pretty close to Chitra Paksha. (just recently some ignoramous writer has credited Cyril Fagan for "introducing" sidereal astrology to the western world in 1944!-what a laugh) But to get back at your original question: you will find a good description of these terms in "textbook of Varshaphala" by Dr. Charak in chapter 10. Since I do not believe that you have an access to Piccatrix, or read Latin (Unfortunately translations are not available), your best bet is still Dr. Charak. I trust that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. With deep respect Arpadhsohamsa , "supriti108" <supriti108 wrote:>> |OM GURAVE NAMAH| > Dear Learned members,> > I came across the terms Musaripha and Muthasila in Prasna tantra.
