Dear Soulsadhak,

I must be equally " dumb " , since I dont see anything dumb in the

question. I think it was PVR (or perhaps another Guru) who once

posted an analogy that went something like this: if you have a

house, rasi dristi is like neighboring houses, and graha dristi is

like someone who comes to visit (with a motive). So it is rasi's

rasi dristi, using your terms. However, although neighboring houses

are in clear view of each other, there have to be neighbors inside

the neighboring houses, otherwise you in your own house are

unaffected (so rasi dristi without any grahas in the rasi does not

have much meaning). If the neighbor happens to be a criminal, you

will be somewhat limited and careful in your movements in your own

house (even though the criminal never actually visits your house).

If he happens to be a priest, you will perhaps be affected in a

positive way by his priestly habits. What I got from this was that

rasi dristi does not have motive (like graha) yet affects you

nonetheless..

At least this is how I remember what was said a long time ago. I may

be quite wrong..Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong..
