Mercury does not get beneficial aspects from Jupiter or Venus the natural benefics.Besides bhakti and progeny, I am sure Sundeep finds it hard to express his real feelings to his wife and children. This is how I was taught in the Iyer method: Iyer also takes into account of the moolatrikona stance of a planet and its no different from any other classics. His point is that a malefic placed in a malefic house or in dagdha rasi bodes well. This is also mentioned in the same book and the idea is based in VRY. The 5-9 yoga is considered to be a malefic yoga and will give anything but beneficial. Mercury besides being a functional malefic is also a natural malefic because of its conjunction with the Sun.Except for the Sun and Moon, all other planets (not including Rahu-Ketu) preside over two signs. One is the moolatrina which we understand is the “office” and the other is the planet’s own sign which we understand as its own “home”. This basic understanding has already been elaborated on as above (and below).Love,SweeOn 1/4/07 11:33 AM, "Bharat Hindu Astrology" <hinduastrology > wrote: Namaste Sri SweeOf all the combinations given for grief and of death, do they come to pass? No. Secondly, 8th lord effects of Mercury are greatly reduced since it is in the 5th house and in its own sign. The greater good capacity of Mercury becomes evident. I have already explained about yogi and dagdha rasi. Mercury is also the lord of the nakshatra of the lagna lord. This greatly increases its life giving properties than life taking ones. Thanks and RegardsBharatOn 1/4/07, Swee Chan <sweechan (AT) mac (DOT) com> wrote: Jaya JagannathaDear Bharat,NamasteThe dialogue between Shiva and Parvati from Jyotishanava Navanitam Ch 2 sloka 1kArakagrahasaMyukto bhAvassklpaphalapradaH|kArakagraharAshisthaH pApastatphalanAshaH||1||The house that is occupied by a cencerned significator will yield limited results. If there is a malefic planet, the indications concerning that house owned by its dispositor will be destroyed.Implying that a malefic will destroy the karakatwa effects of its dispositor. To understand what is meant by (functional) malefics, the next sloka is given:yeyegrahA dharmapabudbhapAbhyAmyuktAshca dR^iSTAshcashubhapradAsyaH|sndhreshvarAri vyayapairyutAshceccokaprado mArakanAyakeShu||2Planets that are related to the lords of the 9th and the 5th houses either by aspect or conjunction will prove auspiciousGrief and death will be the result if planets are conjoined with the lords of the 8th, 6th and 12th houses.Love,SweeOn 1/4/07 10:04 AM, "Bharat Hindu Astrology" <hinduastrology <http://gmail.com> > wrote: Namaste Sri SundeepResponses below in Blue:1) When you say Emerald is the right stone, are you taking into account the fact that Emerald would give the results of the Sun, due to Mercury's conjuction with the Sun in my chart? Similarly, would Ruby give the results of Mercury? No, I am not. Mercury has its own nature and it does not exchange it. Two grahas can work for each other but do not change their inherent nature. Mercury would give its own results. Sun its own. 2) In general, you seem to also be saying that wearing a gem for the lord of a house which is a maraka house for some relation (father, mother, children, siblings etc) will not bring about any negative karma for them. If this is true, then say a person has huge problems with his wife, and wears a gem to alleviate the problem. Lets say it does alleviate the problem - then from the wife's point of view, she was going through some bad karma, and then it suddenly stopped. How would you explain this - since you say that wearing a gem cannot affect other people's karma. I'm specifically interested in this because in my case, the 5th house gem would automatically be the 2nd from the 4th i.e. maraka for the mother.Given a similar logic one should not wear the lagna lord's gemstone since it is 12th for family and markesh for wife. The chart is of oneself and not of others. Others have their own charts. When we give a remedy or a gemstone to alleviate problems with wife or so, it is not to mould the wife but to seek protection from forces causing harm Or to bring internal change such that certain reactiveness, non-acceptance, etc. is countered, etc.. That is why we match charts for matchmaking too - such that two person combine in their natural energies towards positivity and prosperity. If only one chart was to dictate everything, then, no need for matching charts either. Many such examples can be given. Therefore, 5th Lord strengthening is not for causing harm to your mother but to strengthen dharma in you. Your mother's chart will dictate what gemstone is harmful for her to wear. I hope it is clear. Guest guest
Sweeji and Bharatji, I am carefully following (or trying to follow) your discussion. Sweeji's original observation are absolutely correct - my wife's prime complaint against me is that I dont express myself :-) However, I used to think that was because of the state of the Moon in my chart. Sweeji seems to conclude it from Mars and Saturn's dristi on Mercury, and Bharatji seems to conclude it from the position of Venus (that would have been my other guess). However, Bharatji's other comment is very intriguing (and correct) - " there is a barrier between what goes in the mind and what is expressed " . So do you both have some kind of agreement, then? Sweeji's observation that Mercury is a functional malefic bereft of benefic aspects is a bit worrisome. However, I have been through Mercury vimshottari mahadasha and some antaras too - so some feedback: Mercury-Mercury is a bit hazy in my mind (back in the early 70s), but I know it wasnt too great (fears and unhappiness related to school), except in terms of experiencing nature in Africa as a child, which was mind-blowing. Mercury-Sun (back in India) was absolutely stellar - made great strides in education, generally happy. Ketu-Sun in the US was also excellent - did most of my MS work in those few months. Ketu-Mercury in the US was also absolutely stellar - did most of my PhD work in that one year (Ketu-Saturn right before it was terrible for my mind, by comparison, right before Ketu-Mercury). Venus-Sun was again very good - made a mark in my profession. So on the whole, I think have had generally good experiences in Mercury/Sun antaras.. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Hare Ram KrishnaDear Bharatji,I have requested previously about a similar conjunction along with parivartan. Will be grateful for your views:Libra Asc, Lagnesh(Ve) is in conunction in 5H( Aqu) with Sun(AK) and Mercury(combust). Ve is also in parivartan with Rahu in Lagan(Libra). Moon in Cancer has Rasi drishti on 5H. Will diamond help in strengthening Ve? Sun is also Badhakesh but there is no planet in Leo. Will an Emerald help as well? (Me as 9th lord and lord of 12H which has retrograde Jupiter)RegardsSharat- Bharat Hindu Astrology sohamsa Thursday, January 04, 2007 4:34 PMRe: (To Visti)ratna and sambandha (Re: Re: Vistiji's Lecture on GemStones- questionsNamaste Sri SweeMooltrikona lordship is always more important, if the lord is not located in the 2nd house that it owns. Out of the 5th house and 8th house, 8th house is more malefic than the 5th. Here:1. Dagdha Rasi is in 8th - Positive 2. Dagdha Rasi is in the 5th - Negative. But lord of Dagdha Rasi in 5th so positive.
Guest guest
Namaste Sri SundeepResponses in Green:> 1) When you say Emerald is the right stone, are you taking into > account the fact that Emerald would give the results of the Sun, due > to Mercury's conjuction with the Sun in my chart? Similarly, would > Ruby give the results of Mercury? > No, I am not. Mercury has its own nature and it does not exchange it. Two > grahas can work for each other but do not change their inherent nature. > Mercury would give its own results. Sun its own. > So you are in direct contradiction with the conjunction principle cited in earlier posts, then?Contradiction isn't the correct word. Astrology is too vast to be understood correctly by one person. Many of its portions are lost due to invaders, etc. Many of its portions are suppressed by traditional families. There isn't a Sankara Bhashya on it, referring which I may contradict another. We are naturally attracted to one method over the other. If one is using one method, I am using another method and reasoning. I do not ask anyone to stop using their method. Nor do I say that another's method is wrong. I am just saying, I would explain it in a different way using logic and reasoning that appeals to me. So no contradiction here. That when two planets are in conjunction, then one gives the results of the other? I recall someone posting a few days ago that Sanjay Rathji told him to wear a Ruby for debilitated AK Sun conjunct Mercury in house, in order to benefit his *career*. It seemed to me that in that case, the conjunction principle worked - i.e. Sun was 9L in 11, and Mercury was 7 and 10L. If the conjunction principle isnt effective, then why would boosting the Sun help career? However, if you take Ruby as boosting Mercury (due to Sun's conjunction with it), then the results are clear, since Mercury is 10L.9th Lord and 10th Lord together is a Dharma-Karma -Yoga. Grahas in mutual kendras work together. Secondly, if they are in own house, friendly house or exaltation house, they would bring Raja Yoga even when in Dusthanas. Here I do not need to believe that Sun will act like Mercury and Mercury like Sun. Infact, since Mercury is both a friend of Venus and Sun, it will act to bring their energies together. If you recall another chart, that of Sri PV Narasimha Rao, for wearing Red Coral. I had expressed my views too in this regard to someone in a private email, as follows: " Case of P V Narasimha Rao Mars is the trik lord in dagdha Rasi. That itself should give a good result in Mars mahadasha. We still do not know the real reason behind him wearing a Moonga since many astrologers use " Pratikula " system of prescribing gemstones. They take Red Coral to be a protection against the Mars evilness. In their eyes, by uplifting the power of Graha - the Graha is appeased and give good results whether or not it is functional or natural malefic. " So my question is - do you disagree with that principle, and on what basis?Already commented in the 1st para. > > 2) In general, you seem to also be saying that wearing a gem for the > lord of a house which is a maraka house for some relation (father, > mother, children, siblings etc) will not bring about any negative > karma for them. Therefore, 5th Lord strengthening is not for causing > harm to your mother but to strengthen dharma in you. Your mother's chart > will dictate what gemstone is harmful for her to wear. > > I hope it is clear. > Actually, it still isnt totally clear. You havent answered the question - if by wearing a gem for improving one's relationship with his wife, the relationship improved, then the wife felt the results, didnt she? But she wore no gem. So what happened to her bad karma for marriage then? Or was it destined that that her bad karma was to end exactly then anyway? In which case, for relationship cases, whether a gem is going to work for one spouse can be seen by looking for changes in the *other* spouse's chart - the one that isnt going to start wearing a gem. If you make one person responsible or cause for another person's behavior, you are going against the Vedas. The results are in the hands of the Lord. Karma is in one's hands. The results are based on our Karmas - both adrista and drista. So, at best we can say, your wearing a gemstone improved your karmas, understanding, change of attitude, etc...which in turn removed the badha the other was feeling and the relationship benefited. To explain it further would be the domain of the Lord. Moreover, there is a quality of sensitivity and empathy which makes one take the results of another person unto oneself. This is the choice one has. But then, it is again her karma and not yours that makes it so. Clear now? Thanks and RegardsBharat Thanks, Sundeep
Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Sundeep, Namaste Mercury is all about communications. Placed in the 5th and in retrograde motion –means you are npt able to put your feelings through. Moon conjoining Saturn would make you significantly more aloof. How was relationship with your mother? And during this period of your badhakesh Venus, it will have begun rearing its full results from April 02. Doesn’t this make it sound like your wife’s constant reminder is becoming too much of a nag? Since I have not followed your discussions so far, can you tell me what made you come to this list in the first place? I wonder about that Moon and Jupiter in randhra in navamsa – more of a concern to me. Time to offer ancestral oblations and keep your pockets open “for a good dip”. Love, Swee On 1/4/07 11:04 PM, " vedicastrostudent " <vedicastrostudent wrote: Sweeji and Bharatji, I am carefully following (or trying to follow) your discussion. Guest guest
Untitled Document हरे राम कृष्ण॥ Dear SS, Namaskar There is no confusion. Parasara also mentions the change of karakatva for day/night births being sun/saturn. The Sharma edition has this sanskrit in the birth-circumstances chapter. Point is that when Parasara is talking about seeing the stronger between Sun and Venus, he is talking about seven karakas or significators, which are the visible orbiting bodies in the sky. Thus he is talking of physical bodies and here the parampara comes to our rescue and calls them Sthira (fixed) karakas. These are based on the primordial physical characteristics which are linked to our body. I.e. our father contributed to our birth by carrying the soul (sun) and semen (venus). The mother made our body by creating our blood (mars) and water (moon). Now, having known that there is one group of seven karakas, we need to define the others. There are three states of Fixed, Dual and Movable signs, for the body, mind and soul respectively and so also there are three types of significators called the sthira, naisargika and chara karakas. The chara karakas you must know already as they are found based on degrees. Having established that, we can now answer your question reg. the Day/Night births changing the significator of father. This signfication belongs to the Naisargika karaka group and specifically is meant to indicate how a person perceives and experiences their father in their life. Take the chart of Jiddu Krishnamurti. Krishnamurti, Jiddu May 12, 1895 Time: 12:23:30 am Time Zone: 5:30:00 (East of GMT) Place: 78 E 29' 00", 17 N 23' 00" Lunar Yr-Mo: Manmatha - Vaisakha Tithi: Krishna Tritiya (Ma) (13.58% left) Vedic Weekday: Saturday (Sa) Nakshatra: Moola (Ke) (79.25% left) Yoga: Siddha (Ke) (66.28% left) Karana: Vishti (Sa) (27.17% left) Mr. Krishnamurty was born during the night, so Saturn will indicate his perception of his father. Saturn is the lagnesh in the tenth house forming a Simhasana Yoga for a great raja yoga to happen, but its retrograde in exaltation (rejects exaltation) and very malefic by being placed in the seventh from arudha lagna (see Sri Ramas chart), thus blocking his raja yoga. In fact, Jiddu and his brother was adopted, and when his father (saturn) realized the mistake and tried to bring him back home, this was about to end Jiddu's future prospects. The choice in the court was left to Mr. Krishnamurty and he rejected to go home to his father (retrograde saturn). These details and the circumstances of adoption, etc. for Mr. Krishnamurty can be read from my book: Jyotisha Fundamental - My Masters Words. Hope this helps. B: no, it's the earth that rotates on it's axis from west to east making it appear that sun rises in east. A: then why do they still teach it that way in school? my favorite quote: Things are not what they Seem Nor are they Otherwise sorry again!
