Dear Manjit,

Being lost is a fact that one can still be found. There is always HOPE.

I am not sure what you mean by being lost, I am not sure many of us understand either.

Think of the child born in a forlorn village in Ethiopia who will die the very moment he/she is born.

Are our problems surmount that child who is not even born that faces inevitable death?

We are all so much better off - we can express our feelings through a non-reciprocatory media "forum" - our desires to achieve -- (I am not sure what?) -- we are so much better off that we can analyze our next steps as can be predicted - how about that baby who will face inevitable death the moment it is born -- can we read the natal horoscope - no, the mundane takes over -- yes, the mundane - born to immediately die.

Without being any more negative at a time when the world celebrates the newborn; let me just emphasize on one fact - we did not choose our birth or the circumstances we were born in - we chose life (over many other things); we chose a karma that has very little relationship with our birth circumstances. The fulfillment of that Karma is a desire - we may have deviated from the karmic-fact; we may be karmic-sticklers - it is this fact that makes us human - not jyotish. We can always override destiny - it is not easy and there may be prices to pay for that - we are all still living - is it not the best thing we have - we still have the power to mould destiny - we still have the power to undo the damage in bosnia, iraq, sudan, shri lanka and ethiopia ... we are the greatest creatures born unto this earth.

On side of the jyotish balance is the karma (the destined life), on the other side is our freedom of choice.

You are a doctor - Manjit; please remember, being lost is the last thing a patient would like to hear from a doctor.

For years, everyone of us have suffered - in pain, in many ways that we feel no one else can suffer worst.

However, we are human, we are destined to suffer - and that is the reason we are reborn on this earth.

However, our suffering pale in comparison to the child who does not even see the dawn.

We must live our life on this planet and expect nothing as rewards except words of appreciation for the deeds that we do today and what we can leave for the progeny tomorrow. My apologies if I have offended any person or have said something that may tend to be offensive. Sri Ram, Sri Krsna, Jesus Christ, Rama Krishna, Vivekananda suffered before they left for the heavenly abode - suffering is inevitable - but, we must learn from our sufferings -- not just suffer.
