Dear R Satish,

Namaste

Axiomatically speaking, no ordinary person escapes from disease, old age and death. These are the four stages in life and encompasses all the planets as used in Vedic Astrology. Saturn is the authoritarian who keeps a check on one’s debauchery which is the traits of Rahu with the Venusian touch. The extremist gets an aspect of another malefic and the jolly good fellow’s benefics are not aspected by malefics.

On the utilising of Panch Ratna, this is usually employed in a puja for averting evils caused by malefics (a dosha). The Pancha Ratna in the kumbha is taken to represent the elements of the 5 planets – Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn and is being offered to Shiva.

The Navaratna is a representation of the 9 planets which are utilised for the Ganesh puja. As I understand it, most vratas recommend a minimum duration of a year whereas in the vrata offered for Ganesh, one particular vrata requires total dedication for at least 16 years.

The Padma Purana states that when during transits etc., if a particular planet isgoing to cause problems, we can circumvent this by offering gift in charity of the gemstone representing that particular planet. In this case, it is more than that, as we know that in each gem, a particular deity will dwell in there after the puja (when life force is introduced by the sadhaka). A yantra is to be inscribed with certain powders and also offered. Prayers offered are normally one or several of the sukta. Do look it up should you require further information than what is being given in my article in the Jan 2006 Jyotish digest.

Love,

Swee

Dear Swee,

New Year Greetings a life full of Abundance to you all.

I have read very important inputs on Gems as astrology remedies

from your postings.

My questions are related to use of Navratnas as atotal

remedy.There are conflicting views,please clarify.

For example take this case July 18 1976,TOB 1558hrs Kakinada (16-

57N,82-13E).Vrischika Lagna Meena Rasi Revathi star.Present dasa is

Venus/Saturn.

For this horoscope, Venus is a malefic,(7/12th lord placed in

Karka 9th. Saturn is a benfic(3/4thlord placed in Karka rapt conj

with Venus.Sun,Merc also In Karka.

Axiomatically,Venus/Sat period is very troublesome for all

horoscopes. In this case, total unhappiness on job front ,though well

employed.Change of job is just not happening. He does not have a

passport to look for a job outside India.

To alleviate the problem, I feel wearing either a Diamond or

Neelam would be negative and aggravate. Can Navratna help?

I will appreciate your kind assistance in this matter to suggest

what gems are to worn.

Regards,

R Satish

Dear Swee,

The philosophy of the planets'behaviour as explained by

you are understandable, but with reference to the case,my doubt is

still there.

Are the gems to be worn or we wear a yantra or do poojas.

which would be more desirable.

Regards,

Satish
