Does this observation change the equation between brother and sister? best regardsHariOn 10/24/06, utpal pathak <vedic_pathak wrote: || Jay Grurdev || Dear Members, Though this is a non-Astrological post, i thought of putting it on the day of Bhai-Beej.. I have complained (light heartedly but firmly) to some of best friends hailing from Southern India about lacking of a single festival which exclusively meant for a Brother & a Sister. Like we have two festival called " Raksha Bandhan " & " Bhai Beej " . I'll be very happy if there is one which i am not aware of. No offence meant to any one. the issue may be unpalatable for most but is very surprsing for me. Regards, Utpal Pathak
Guest guest
|| Jay Gurudev || Dear Hari, Namaste ! 'Equation' sounds improper word to decribe love between brother & sister however I understand your meaning and it is true but a festival day is a special day which 'Refreshes'-'Revitalises' the prema, the affection. It serves as a great 'Token' of love. My friends enjoys Rakhi day in Mumbai with great enthusiasm. I am sure that people will be missing a day when Sister greets brother with 'Deepa' and Kumkum. she puts a Tilak on his forehead. Ties a Rakhi wrist with so much affection. Brother on his part gives some present to her. on Bhai- beej it is reverse. Brother goes to sister's house (if she is married) and partakes the food prepared by her. she is so much happy and try to prepare the best food in the world for her dear brother. Once again no Ugly -Nonsense-the most damaging words like South India & north india. It is just the great tradition of " Bharat " and i hope some day it is integrated in other parts as well. I have observed my maternal uncle, after Sankranthi-Pongal, visit his sisters(married) with Haldi,Kumkum, and other shagun and bless/seek blessings as applicable.
