Jhora - Technical Question

Dear Sanjay,

I haven't exactly stopped further developments in JHora. I still fix bugs. Recently, I made a change that brings the typical memory usage down from around 50 MB to 7 MB and made the opening of charts much faster.

I have also added minor features like generic angular return charts (for research), Surya Kalanala Chakra, Chandra Kalanala chakra etc. I am planning a release around Vijaya Dasami/Deepavali timeframe.

Regarding the request on colors by Bharat: I tried the colors he sent. Unfortunately, I don't want to reprogram the defaults to his version. I find the bright red and dark green backgrounds behind yellow in chart and AV screens too gaudy. To me, it is tough to look at anything else on the screen - those backgrounds just draw my eyes.

Loko bhinnaruchih - people have different tastes. What is simple, pleasant and unobtrustive to one may be dull to someone else. What is bright, pleasant and alive to someone may be gaudy to someone else. That is precisely why I gave the ability to customize the colors! Whether the defaults are what they are now or what Bharat uses, there will be many who will not like them.

I will not change the default colors. However, if people send their c:\jhcolors.ini files to me, I can select some good ones and offer them as options in the software. Please give a name to your color theme (e.g. "Sunny days", "Night's majesty", "Subtle copper", "Purple heart", "Turmeric paste", "Almond and greys", "Arun's reddish theme", "Vishal's blues" etc etc). You can be creative. Please send them to me only if you have no problem with me using the colors and the name in the software.

I will select some and add them to the software. Basically, there will be a dialog that you can enter and select the color theme in a drop-down combo box and then your colors will change! After you do that, you can customize the colors further by making finer adjustments. You can benefit from the work already done by someone with a similar taste!

Namaste,

Oops, I forgot to mention the main point for which I started typing!

It is nice that Sanjay volunteered to write a perl script to convert if the chart data format of the other software is not binary.

Well, if you can talk to the other software makers and get them to give a description of their chart format to me (so that I can program JHora to read and understand their chart data file), I can add the ability in JHora to read the charts saved in that software. Instead of "File">>"Open", you will open a new menu "File">>"Open Parashara's lite file" and the software will read the data and show the chart.

Please work with the other software maker.

I can reciprocate by sharing the JHora chart data format with them, so that they can program their software to read *.jhd files of JHora.

Hi Sanjay, I have checked the files both of JHD and Parashara's light. While JHD file is simple text file, parashara light files seems to be encrypted and guess it would be really tough (if not impossible) to get the code written. I am sending you same data file for both JHD and Parashara Light on your personal email ID. Namaskaar Sri Sanjay and Sri NarasimhaThis is great. I am glad you two are doing this. To Sri Sanjay:I am sending you both the default file of Parashara light, which is .kun and also the exported version, which is .txt. They are being sent to your private email id. To Sri NarasimhaThis is great. I agree the colors that I use are little too bright and I like happy bright colors. I fully agree that each one has its own tastes, and the themes idea would be great. I'll try and make subtler combinations and will surely send them to you at private mail id. Thanks and RegardsBharatOn 7/29/06, Narasimha P.V.R. Rao <pvr wrote:

Dear Narasimha,

You have done a such an excellent job with JHora. I enjoy using it.

Though you have clearly mentioned in the documentation that you don't

see a need for supporting Sripathi Bhava, I beg to ask this question:

Will you please reconsider and provide Sripathi Bhava chart in JHora?

Is it too much of work for too little gain?

I am doing research on longevity. I am getting better results using

Sripathi Bhava as compared to equal house Bhavas and hence this query.

Regards,

Krishna

Dear Krishna, JHora supports Sripathi calculations regarding houses and hence one can create Bhava Chart by hand as calculations is already done by JHora. Following are the steps: 1. Create any chart. 2. Click on Basics tab 3. Under Basics, click on Houses tab 4. Right click with the mouse where houses details are shown (start, cusp, end etc.) 5. Choose Porphyry houses (Sripathi) 6. Now you have start, cusp, end and planets in it using Sripathi calculations and you can prepare chart in seconds. 7. Also a quick look at cusp calculations can let us know what should be the actual lord of which house as it is done in sripathi calculations if cusp is of another rashi. Hope this helps!! Dear Narasimha,

Do you plan to make any corrections in ashakavarga point calculations? There was a discussion sometime back about totaling error.

Best Wishes,

Dear Mr. Krishna, In Arsh Paddhati , particularly when you are taking help of Divisional Charts or Nadi principals ,Sripati method of house divisinon is NOT OF MUCH help. You have to follow one house one rashi system advocated and taught by Sage Parasara and Acharya VarahaMihira. In this method , M.C is not considered as mid-point of 10th house. The longitude of all mid- points of all the houses will be equivalent to Ascending degree. Regards, G.K.GOEL Krishnamurthy Seetharama <krishna_1998 wrote: Dear Neeraj,Thanks for the details. Yes, I could follow the steps outlinesby you and get the necessary details. Thanks a lot!Regards,Krishna--- Neeraj Gupta <gupta_neeraj_2000 > wrote:> Dear Krishna,> > JHora supports Sripathi calculations regarding houses and> hence one can create Bhava Chart by hand as calculations is> already done by JHora.
