Dear Pundits,

 

When looking at badakesh as a giver of disease we conclude when its

vargottoma that the disease sits on the head i.e. its a mental

disorder. However, if badakesh is afflicted through 1 rasi dristhi from

a malefic and 2 other malefics by graha dristhi, but is not vargottoma -

then how do we ascertain where the disease will appear in the body?

Principally the badhakesh does not give disease unless associated with the

houses which cause disease (6th and 8th). You may infer that the badhaka

manifests through a disease in such cases. Otherwise a vargottama badhakesh

affects the head and if evil will cause problems with the intelligence.

Here we are on thin ground as Harihara clearly specifies that the badhaka

can give mental disorders due to posession and evil spirits, but he does not

classify this as a disease. Instead, he has seperately given combinations

for medical disorders which affect the intelligence. So, we have two
